Dining out

We just returned from a 10 day holiday where we stayed in a 1 br with a small kitchen. It had everything we needed but a not an oven.

Knowing this ahead of time, I prepared and froze 8 crock pot meals. Each one was different. Some we really liked and others, well we had a few bites as it was what was for dinner.

Although it was not Disney, I did learn that I don't have to dine out while on holiday. We easily saved hundreds by eating breakfast and dinner in our room. We had wine/beer on the balcony watching the sunset before dinner rather than pay bar prices.

If we ever return to WDW, I will pack the crock pot and save.

For those that are looking at exchanges, this is an important realization. It's not uncommon to have a limited kitchen in a larger unit and essentially no kitchen in a studio. We've stayed in 1 BR units that barely had the kitchen of a DVC studio and many 1 BR units that had a small cooktop of 2 or 3 burners and that did not have an oven though most did have a convection microwave and all had a microwave of some sort. This is just one of the reasons one needs to investigate before taking a rental or exchange.
