DH and I will soon be making our first trip ever to US/IOA and need some suggestions for dining options. What is available (other than the standard fast food options) and what do you like?

My favorite place to eat at Universal is Margaritaville on City Walk! I just love the whole "ambiance" of the place and the food is great!! My favorite dish is the Coconut Shrimp! Yum! They also have a great Kids Menu (for us anyway) because my son LOVES their Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches and my daughter loves the Spaghetti! :)

Have a wonderful time!

What do you want to spend?

City walk has some great places. Tchoup Chop (or is it Chop Tchoup) at the Royal Pacific is phenomenal, but it will cost you.

Dining options vary greatly. You can find counter service to elegant dining, just depends on what you like. Between both parks, all three hotels and citywalk, dining could satisy for quite a while!

Some of my favorites in no particular order are:

1.Mama Della's- Wonderful Italian with great food and atmosphere, located at the Portofino Hotel.

2.Tchoup Chop- An Emeril restaurant with an asian influence that offers incredible food with a tranquil setting. Located at Royal Pacific

3.Jakes at Royal Pacific- The best burger I ever had!! Low key, yummy food.

4.Mythos at Islands of Adventure- Make sure you call and get thier hours. The best park dining experience, ever. Save room for the warm gooey banana cake.

5. Margarittaville located at Citywalk- Fun, festive atmosphere with very good food. Stay and watch the volcano erupt.

6. NBA City- My kids LOVE this place.

7. Latin Quarter- Citywalk. Really great food with live dance show.

Hope this helps a little for additional info go here to peek at some menus. Here also.

Enjoy!!

My all time favorite at Universal is MYTHOS in Islands of Adventure. Not at all what you 'd expect from a restaurant in a theme park. Great food and atmosphere. We also loved Tchoup Chop at the Royal Pacific. The service and food was fantastic. Latin Quarter is another one of our favorites. We also like to stop for a relaxing lunch at Lombard's Landing in Universal Studios.

The coconut pineapple macadamia pancakes & Tahitian French toast w/carmelized bananas and cinnamon butter at RPR's Islands Restaurant are great!

The best lunch we had while there was a turkey leg at the Enchanted Oak Tavern at IOA. The turkey leg is served w/fries (I think), corn on the cob & a corn muffin. It's a ton of food and it's really good. My boyfriend & I really could have shared the meal and would've probably still had leftovers.

For dinner, Margaritaville has my vote...we ate there 3 times during our last visit to USO/IOA. The food, drinks & atmosphere are all excellent. I really can't even think of one tiny negative thing to say about the place. :D
