dining option

The new one looks like it absolutely would save my family money. But, if you don't usually do a sit down meal every day, maybe not.

We have always done one sit down meal daily and the rest counter service.

Check out menus on allearsnet.com and you can figure out for yourself if it would save your family money or not.

If you are saving money on your room by booking it separately with a discount (AP, AAA, etc), it probably wouldn't pay to get the pkg with the dining plan. If you are being charged rack rate for your resort room, that will probably negate the savings you would have from the dining plan....providing you don't eat at the most expensive character/sit down dinners every day. Also, don't forget- when comparing prices- you still need to buy your own breakfast separately, even if you have the dining plan. I was comparing what I had budgeted for meals on our last trip, and it was about the same as the cost of the dining plan, but it included breakfast every day (with 2 character breakfasts), as well as a character lunch, and a few sit down dinners.

How much does it cost per adult and child? I heard 30.00 adults and 10.00 for children. I dont know the ages?

Definietly is saving us money. I believe we are paying $90 per day for the dining plan for 2a/2c for our October 2005 trip. We usually do one character meal a day, at least 4 water/sodas and 1 counter service meal averaging $25 - $30.

Last trip we did:
Dinner at Chef Mickey's -- $77.96 (not including tax/gratuity) + $10 snacks + $25 counter service = $112.96
Princess Storybook Breakfast -- $67.96 (not including tax/gratuity) + $10 snacks + $25 counter service = $102.96
Cinderalla's Round Table -- $67.96 (not including tax/gratuity) + $10 snacks + $25 counter service = $102.96
Lunch at Crystal Palace -- $59.96 (not including tax/gratuity) + $10 snacks + $25 counter service = $94.96
Dinner at Hollywood & Vine -- $63.96 (not including tax/gratuity) + $10 snacks + $25 counter service = $98.96

So for us the package is a good deal. :)

I was all excited to do the dining plan at first but the more I look at the numbers I don't think so. For us it would cost $1,192.96 for 8 days on the plan ($37.28 per day x 4 people). Plus we would have to buy our passes from WDW instead of Ticketmania, costing us an additional $47.76.
