We are planning to visit epcot on saturday july 3rd and dining in the san angel.
Firstly what are your opinions of the place ???for those of you who have visited and what would a familyof 4 expect to pay ???
Would I also need to have a ps for say 6pm??:wave2:

Just put my opinion on another thread "Most disappointing restaurant" in WDW. My vote was San Angel Inn! We didn't care for the food at all, supposedly it is tradional Mexican food. Our party consisted of 4 adults each with different dishes and noone thought their dishes were anything special.

The volcano and boat ride in Mexico is cool, but thought the lighting around the restaurant extremely dim. We couldn't even see the platter in front of us. Service was poor as the place is very busy. I would make PS's especially for dinner which is when we went and there were lots of people waiting. Didn't have to wait long at all since we had a PS.

Can't remember our bill for 4 adults, but we all thought it was way too overpriced for the quality of food. This coming from 4 people who think money is no object when it comes to excellent food and service.

Hubby and I and the kids all love San Angel Inn. It is always one of the first places..when we say, where do you want to go..it is San Angel Inn. We have been taking them to this restaurant since they have been preteens, they are now all 20 something and they still love it.

Yes, it is mexican..can't remember from what region in Mexico. For those that say it isn't good..you have to remember..there are many, many different regions/types of mexican food in mexico.

This is not taco bell..taco bell is not mexican. If that is what you are looking for, don't go.

If you are looking for a wonderful dining experience with some wonderful food..then go and enjoy.

I think the food is very good! And the Margarita's are AWESOME!!!!!

We love it as well and eat lunch there every trip. if you like cheese(...and who doesn't...) try the queso fundito (sp?) Very yummy to split as an app.

I am from Texas and we have TexMex here, and San Angel in nothing like TexMex. I actually like TexMex better but I still really enjoy San Angel Inn. Give it a try. My husband really likes fajitas, but they don't serve them, so he ordered the steak and sliced it like a fajita and it was great! They will give you a side of tortillias and cheese.

This is the place my husband wants to make sure I get to go, when he is wanting to please me. Our family loves it. And I second "Airhead's" comment on the awesome Margaritas. I could have one right now. I don't remember what the cost was but it was more than your average "authentic", sit-down, mexican restaurant. (Not Taco Bell) But it is worth it. The cost isn't unreasonable.

we were soo excited to eat at the san angel in 2002, but while the atmosphere is very cool..the food outside at the counter service place is so much better. Now instead, we will ride the River of Time and then go eat outside! I recommend the combination platter. Eat it while watching Illuminations!

We love San Angel Inn, although we haven't eaten there the last 2 trips(trying other rest.), so can't really remember the cost. We find the food very good, much better than the counter service outside:confused:, and worth the price. And, we love sitting near the volcano and watching the riders on El Rio del Tiempo!!:teeth:

Check allearsnet.com for menus, this should give you an idea of what the prices are.:wave2:

allearsnet. com should have the menu with prices on it...

When we went last, we didn't care for it because we enjoy Tex-Mex, not Mexican food... the atmosphere is sooooo awesome, so we just go to shop and don't eat there anymore =) Those who like Mexican food will probably enjoy it!

It never hurts to have a PS just in case! Esp if you have a date and time in mind!

We liked the San Angel Inn for lunch. The Nachos de Pollo were recommended by my DIL. It was a generous meal for one or a good appetizer for several people. I can't remember what my husband ordered, but he enjoyed it as well. My only complaint was that our area of the restaurant seemed a bit crowded with tables.

The boat ride is a nice treat after the meal.

We did not like this place at all. It was a real disappointment. The food was not very good... the atmosphere was nice, but we found it to be way too crowded (tables were very close together) and incredibly dark.

The fast food place across the "street" has awesome nachos however. :)

Another vote for you to go! The food is OK and the service has always been fine. I go here for the atmosphere. The margaritas are excelllent too. Have one, and the food may not seem so bad after all...

We enjoyed dinner at the Inn last spring. We would go again. PS is definitely advisable for evening meals. We tried walk-in once and were told it was a two hour wait. I believe that was around 5:30 - 6pm.

We like it. We did it with the CP package this year and were rushed but really felt like it was the package not the resturant. The food was good and the setting very cool. We had a Ps and had to wait so I would be sure to make one. We plan to try lunch next time. We had the package so cost was a little different.

Not my favorite......

That said, I think you should at least try it. Atmosphere was very nice, however was dissappointed in the food, and the portions. WE went for lunch, so the prices were about $10 -$14 per person.
Dont get me wrong, the food was ok , just not worth the price IMO.

If you want to go, I say go for it!!! You never know till you try it yourself:smooth:

Thank you everyone,,,what a great response.I think the good far outweigh the bad ,so we will probably dine there.
A ps will be arranged and my family will try the margarhitas, but only if my wife drives, then I can have a couple.
Like the last poster said you never know until you try and everyones opinions differ .So if you are around on the 3rd july see you there and I will sleep it all off at dc on the 4th

thank you

We haven't had much luck with the entrees at San Angel, but love to go for the atmosphere. One of our favorite meals at Epcot is the Queso Fundido. We share that, DW downs the margaritas & I really love the cinnamon-flavored coffee they serve there. Those chicken nachos sound good, too.

My hubby & I have enjoyed ourselves there more than once - the Queso Fundido is so good - and the margaritas! It is Mexican - not TexMex - so prepare yourself - I don't think you can get fajitas or a burrito or stuff like that. But, go out on a limb and get something new - I just said "something with lots of cheese" last time and I was not disappointed! I don't remember the cost... I blame the margaritas...
Oh, it is a dark restaurant (but I think that makes it really cool) and the tables do tend to be close together. We did not have PS and walked up I guess around 7 or 7:30 and we were in a table at 8:45ish. We are late eaters, so we didn't mind.

Cantina de San Angel no longer has a combination platter.

I think San Angel Inn is fine. I have not had a problem with anything I've ordered there, and the margaritas are outstanding. It is NOT the Tex-Mex style food that most Americans are used to.
