Hello! We will be visiting WDW in Nov. and will be able to make dining reservations in May. What do I need to do to be ready for that? What is the process for making reservations? Any tips for a first timer? TIA!

You can use the My Disney Experience application, use the web site starting at 6:00 AM EST, or call the dining hot line at 7:00 EST. I have had the mst luck with the web application. You might want to pre-enter your credit card. Book the hard to get one first like Be Our Guest, ‘Ohana, CRT. Then I would go in order of your dates. I hope you get everything you are looking for.

The easiest way to book them is via the Disney website.

First of all, determine your budget. Sit down meals are very pricy IMHO.

Do you want to do any character meals? what characters, if any, do you really really want to see?

What time(s) do you want to eat?

What are the ages in your party?

Picky eaters? Vegetarians? Meat n potatoes folks?

I always start by determining what parks I'm going to on which days, and then base where I'm dinning on that. Some people do it the opposite and get the ADRs first to determine which parks they go to. I paid the $14 subscription to touring plans to make my plans because in my opinion Disney does not release its park hours soon enough before the ADR window opens to make informed decisions about which park I want to visit on each day.

I also do which park which day first. Then I choose restaurants that appeal you our party near that park.
Who is in your party? What are their ages? What are your food preferences? What is your budget?
Review menus on the official Disney site as well as Allears.net.
Once you decide what you want and where you will be you are ready to start. You can book at 180 days in advance.
Good Luck

In addition to pre-entering your payment info, be sure to have already entered the names of all your prospective guests.
I make most of my ressies on my laptop yet ensure that my cell phone is fully charged and the app is already opened to the ADR page so I can make reservations on either.
Finally, it's nice if someone else is available/awake to make ressies at the same time as you.
Remember, if you are not sure if someone is coming go ahead and put them on the ressie; easier to remove a person later than add.
