Dining Experiences That Were Worth It

We did Jiko, Tutto, FF and Fultons last month, all were pricy meals and all were totally worth it...the food was just amazing

Agree with all the Signature and fine dining places being worth it... perhaps not 2TS credits via DDP but worth it for us paying OOP with DDE. That said, there are times we've been a little underwhelmed: CaliGrill with the noise, crowds; Le Cellier, not a signature, being good but not WOW; limited menus almost everywhere; limited character interactions at various meals. FWIW.

We had these restaurants on our last trip and they were totally worth every dime:

Big River Grill
Coral Reef
Akershus
Boma

Excellent service and food at those places! Tony at Coral Reef was our waiter and if I would have had it, I'd of given that guy $1,000 ;) The only waiter I've ever met that kept my 3 teens totally entertained throughout dinner.

I can tell you the places that we love, and that have been very consistent for us in good food and service.

We absolutely love Narcoossees and have been going there for years. It is our favorite in all of WDW. They have delicious food, great servie, and a lovely atmosphere.

We also love...Le Cellier, Teppan Edo(we even liked it when it was still Teppanyaki), and Artist Point.

One other place that I know gets very mixed reviews, but we happen to love, is San Angel Inn. The only negative, which is a slight one...is that service can be slow, and that has happend to us on more than one occasion. However, the food has always been good and we enjoy the atmosphere there.

We are going to be trying Jiko out for the first time this coming Jan. I can't wait because I hear many wonderful things about it.

Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast is totally worth it. Even for the 2 TS credits. Best stuffed french toast. Yum!

LOVED O'Hana, Crystal Palace (lunch), and CRT (dinner). Breakfast at Olivia's at OKW was great too. Oh and the burgers and ribs and Cosmic Rays were awesome.

I was really pleased with Tutto Italia.
My Dh and Ds loved Teppan Edo.
Honestly.. we wanted to love Restaurant Marrakesh but the whole dinner was lacking something.
I would highly recommend the others two though.

I've only been on one WDW vacation in the past 25 years (last year), but here were my thoughts on the restaurants we went to:

SO worth it:
Boma
Coral Reef (am I in the minority? :rotfl: )
CRT breakfast

Worth it:
Wolfgang Puck Cafe

Not worth it:
Rainforest Cafe AK
Liberty Tree Tavern (if the characters weren't there, which they won't be)
Hollywood and Vine

Can't wait to find out if the ones I chose this trip are worth it!!!!

V&A is always worth the high price. The Chef's Table is especially well priced for the value received.

As for others, we've been truly disappointed with the 1TS restaurants, generally. We were pleasantly surprised by the buffet at Chef Mickey's recently. We were there with family and small kids for "rib night" and the food was generally pretty good to good. As for other 1TS restaurants, they pretty much all stink now. Coral Reef, CRT, Liberty Tree Tavern, Chefs de France, Tony's. Yuck.

As for 2TS signature dining, the food is always reliably good at those places. But, Disney has run the menu prices up lately -- I think in an effort to make people on the dining plan think they are getting a good deal -- even though they are spending two credits.

For those of us not on the dining plan, we paid $34.95 for the salmon at Artist Point last month. A comparable and very wonderful piece of salmon could be had at Shula's for $24.95. So, we're beginning to think that the signature restaurants, while generally good (foodwise) are not really a good value.

We were over at Universal last month and dined at Bice. It was not cheap at all. But, nothing (and I mean nothing) came out of that kitchen that wasn't absolutely first rate in quality and taste. And, they had a marvelous wine list of rare and interesting Italian reds. For us, we don't mind a high price if we think the value is there.

We're questioning whether some of the 2TS restaurants are worth it these days, with the most recent price hike. We ate at Jiko last month, and it was delicious as always. But, restaurant management seemed a bit slow and rather flat-footed when we had an issue there last month. We wanted a particular bottle of wine and the manager had just sold the last bottle of that wine. Frankly, he should have sold us a bottle that was $10 more at the same price (we were purchasing $110 bottle off the reserve list and what he had left was the $120 bottle). But no, if we wanted the $120 bottle, we paid $120 -- no offer to sell it to us for $10 less (which would be the response of any restaurant manager with a clue). He was far more WDW middle management than restaurant material per se. Trust me, you don't get that problem at V&A.

And, IMO, most of the 1TS certainly aren't worth the trouble these days.

As recently as a few weeks ago, we had an excellent dining experience at Narcoossee's.

We also had good experiences at Brown Derby, 50s Prime Time, Tutto Italia, Tusker House, Rose & Crown, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Tony's Town Square.

In the last year or so.
