dining experience card Question ?

Hi we are going with friends and I have a question about sharing the dining experience card. we are getting an annual pass but they aren't ,how do we get them the discount? They like to pay everything by credit card, can you have seperate checks or does it have to be on our check only? I would appreciate any info you can give me! Thanks!

You can pay for up to 10 people on one check with your DDE card and proper ID. I would just have them pay you cash if they really want the discount.

Our friends just get their own DDE cards...so it isn't an issue.

If you ask the servers very nicely, sometimes they'll bend the rules a bit & allow you to use your card even if someone else is paying--we've run into this before. But if you're concerned about not getting the discount, using cash or the Disney gift card might be a better way to go.

As Brianne said, the servers may bend the rules. However, the rule is it must be one check.

Also, I have never had any problem with someone else paying for everything on their CC. When the bill comes I will give the server my DDE card. When the adjusted check is brought back we will then discuss it and hand the server the bill with a credit card. I have never had them verify that the DDE holder and the CC holder are the same person since they have never had both in hand at the same time.

It is because people were doing exactly what you are talking about that we are now being charged $25 for a spouse/s.o. card!

You are entitled to use you DDE card for a party of up to 10. If you wish to have your friends pay you back for their portion of the meal that is your business & not against the rules at all.

BUT trying to get a card for an entirely additional family without paying for it is stealing.

You, your card & your party of 10 could be dining in one place while your friends with their card & their party of 10 could be dining somewhere else. Now you have 20 people dining on the same $60 fee instead of 10. People wonder why prices keep going up everywhere.

Please take this into consideration.

A server granting separate checks is RARE (against a DDE discount card). IT MAY happen one out of ten times, if you are lucky.
It use to not be an issue until just over a year ago. Now you just have to plan on anyone using your discount either paying for the meal, and you pay them, or visa versa.
Although I have never tried using two credit/debit cards to pay for one meal bill. That's a possibility. But I can't say or will or won't happen, as I have never tried it.

I've never ran into an issue where they insisted that she pay, as her name is the only name on the card. As a matter of fact, we used it extensively last December as well as May of this year, and I paid every time. Must I now have my own card for our December trip, or can I continue to pay for us both as I always have?

Technically if the card is in her name she should be the paying.

That being said, last year you were able to get a 2nd card for spouse/domestic partner for free. My guess is that your servers assumed that you were married already & never questioned it.

IMO this is totally different than trying to get an entirely seperate family a discount without paying for it/being entitled to it (since family #2 doesn't have an AP) & causing me to now have to pay an extra $25 for a 2nd card.

I don't know if they will be anymore strict about this or not when you go. I guess it'll depend on how much abuse of the system they think is going on.
If it does become a problem you could always room charge your meals (your cc# on file) & have wife-to-be sign the check.

Gotcha ... Well, by the time we try to use it on this trip, we really will be married, so hopefully that will work out. I may just go ahead and get my own card in order to avoid any potentially embarrassing situations. Thank you for the kind words!

I don't think the OP was trying to get her friends the discount at a different meal. I think they wanted to know how to "divvy up" the check since their friends don't carry cash. They were going to follow the rules, but didn't know how their friends would reimburse them.

We are going in Feb with all the kids and my mom. We will use our DDE card for all the meals we eat together (following the rules). She is also staying in our room, so this is what we planned on doing: We will charge all meals to our room charge using the DDE. She is going to keep track of what she "owes" for the 2 week stay...I am going to just let her use our charge priveledges, as well for buying stuff so she doesn't have to carry a separate card or alot of cash. Then, the night before check out, she can go to the desk and make a payment on the room bill for her portion. We did this last trip with my sister...she charged stuff to the room and then just tallied it up and paid it off before they charged it to our card on check out.

ALthough we planned on paying for all her big meals anyway, but haven't told her that yet.

It DOES NOT SAY that the member has to pay. The member must be present. You and your friends could take turns paying for meals useing your credit cards. For example if you ate at Le Cellier the first night and Kona the second night you could pay for Le Cellier and they could pay for Kona.

That being said, another thing you could ask for is for them to charge the single check to two credit cards. We did this a couple of times and they were fine with it. We still had one check and asked for half to be charged to credit card A and half to be charged to credit card B.

And to the poster that is upset because we know have to pay extra for another card, I don't believe it is do to misuse by card holders. I believe it is due to complaints of the policy for recieving a free card being unfair to domestic partners, adult kids, couples who don't live together etc. The free card was a pretty narrow determination.

The easiest way it to put the bill on the two credit cards....or to have you pay one night and the friend pay the next.

To use 2 cards, just hand them to the server and say "please bill $50 to this card and the balance to the other one."
