Dining discount w/ preferred annual pass

We have spent the last decade visiting WDW and want to try the other side! We have never been to and know nothing about Universal. We are planning a vacation this September for a week, staying at CBBR. I know that we'll be getting annual passes (seasonal) for the 5 of us. If I upgraded to the preferred pass and the rest of my family has the seasonal, could I use the dining discounts for all of us or just what I order/buy? I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth the extra price for us. Thank you for your thoughts!
