Dining Discount Question

I am looking to see which restaurants with which we have reservations also honor a DVC discount. While reading the list on the dvcmember site, I saw this footnote at the bottom:

• Dining check must be paid at the restaurant and may not be charged to your room.

I guess the answer is obvious, but I'm asking because it seems odd...does this mean that in order to get the 10% (or whatever) discount one cannot use his or her MagicBand, but must instead pay with a credit/debit/gift card directly?

The only ones I see that on are restaurants at the Swan/Dolphin which doesn't allow room charging for those staying at a Disney owned resort.

On the perks list page, one of the "perks" is a bulleted list of restaurants that offer a discount, and the bullet I posted above was copied from that list. The restaurants on that list are in the parks and the resorts. I will try to screenshot it.

We got the dvc discount at all restaurants in January. I think it's part of a special perk right now. All meals not just lunch. Paid with magic band charged to room account.

I figured that was the case, just wanted to be sure. I don't want to carry my Disney gift cards around. Thanks.

Once logged in to the DVC member page, hover over "My DVC Membership" and go to the bottom "Member benefits and more." You can filter by perk type. I believe there is also a link at the top of the resulting page to download/print a pdf of the perks.

Looks that way. If you are two members eating together (i.e. Spouses) you could get around this by splitting the bill.

On my recent stay, we paid with the magic band and never had to even pull out the membership card. Apparently, the restaurant can read where you're staying. We did have to use the card to buy merchandise, however.

Can I just jump in and ask do you have to be staying on your points to get a shopping or dining DVC discount? We are staying off site for a few days before staying on our points at OKW in August, but will still be visiting the Disney parks whilst off site.
