Dining disappointments?

very disappointed with Boma in September 2008...way too crowded, lines out of control at the food stations (kids cutting lines like crazy...one mom would stand there & all her kids & friends' kids & nieces & nephews would "join" her in line ahead of the 10 or more people waiting. This happened repeatedly.)

Food was awful...over spiced to the point burnt your tongue OR it was so bland as to be tasteless. Apparently it was one-extreme-or-the-other and no happy mediums in the spice department there.

I know a lot of people love it, but not us.

We've liked every single other WDW restaurant we've tried, including many that get bad raps quite often (Hollywood & Vine, Crystal Palace, Garden Grill, Liberty Tree, Mama Melrose, etc...we liked 'em.)

Garden Grill is actually the only bad restaurant experience we've ever had in WDW. We're not the negative complaining type and otherwise very happy with WDW dining! But Garden Grill... rude, unfriendly waitress, bad food, small portions (The waitress told us to let her know if we would like more food (you're supposed to) , but when we politely did so, she rolled her eyes! Go figure!) +It's the only place in WDW where the chef's been really unhelpful and actually cheap when it comes to allergy diets... The characters and the view were good but everything else was just plain awful! Anywhere else (including any counter service restaurant) is better, my favourites are Cinderella's Royal Table and Chef Mickey :D My husband really likes Crystal Palace. Great food, and nice CMs both places!!

What was horrible about it? I've eaten here about 5 times over the years and we loved it every time.

We tried Chef Mickey's for dinner two trips ago and were really looking forward to it. The character interaction was okay, but the food was horrible and the service was some of the worst I have ever experienced. For the price and given the terrible quality I would happily have stood in line to meet characters in the parks - lesson learned! We have really enjoyed our many other meals in restaurants around WDW.

We have had the same experience at dinner. If you need to do it again, I'd go for breakfast. The food is better (still not great, but better) and the character interaction is amazing in the morning. (we did dinner and breakfast on the same trip and had much better interaction in the morning)

Our only disappointment in our ten day trip last year was the counter service (Cantina?) in Mexico. YUCK!! I love all types of Mexican food--real Mexican, Tex-Mex, I even like Taco Bell when I'm in the mood for it. And that was the level I was expecting. But they were no where close and I'm sorry, when you can't reach the level of a Taco Bell, you are in sorry shape. Dry, bland, cold. Ick. Shudder.

:rotfl2: I think the only thing I had the one time we went there was a Margarita.

Jan 07 - The chick at Cosmic Ray's did NOT understand the dining plan at ALL and was really really rude.

Oct 04 - Ugh. Breakfastosaurus. Loooong wait for a table, seated in no man's land, only saw two characters. Ugh.

Those are the only two instances I can think of.

From all the great things I've read about CM, I knew I couldn't be alone thinking this napkin waiving dinner is overrated.

I went with my son last year (we skipped it this year) and was very disappointed. The food is very average considering the price and I think it had the worst character interaction of all the dining experiences we did on that trip (we did Play 'N Dine, CRT, Breakfastasauras (which we'll miss). You are probably right and if we did this again, it would be for breakfast, not dinner.

I never knew that the servers at WCC were supposed to be "cute". Anyway, back in 2000 we ate there. The service was scary, just plain O.M.G! My waiter called me a "suicide blonde that failed"....what the heck ever?!!!:confused3 When I asked for a straw he threw about 20 in my face.

Yes, I now know that this was supposed to be "cute". Yeah, whatever. At the time I was horrified and left that server a quarter.

I'm laughing so hard- I had to read this to my DH. :lmao:

The only restaurant I've ever really HATED was Hollywood and Vine--disgusting atmosphere, horrible food, and bad service. YUCK~!

Everyone complains about servers being rude or the food not up to par but nowhere have i read if these people that are complaining have filed any complaints and who did they talk to, if so what kind of reply did they get.

Every time we have been we were on the premium plan and never had bad service or lousy food. Then again we are not gourmets or fussy eaters.

CRT was a big let down. I wasnt expecting much in the way of food, but we got even less. Just really really really really average.

DH and I went to Kona Cafe over a year ago and we absolutely loved it. The service was great and the food was excellent. We went to Kona Cafe this Thursday and I was let down...such a huge disappointment. We went to check in and the restaurant was absolutely dead (not a problem...we thought we would get great service, we were wrong). We got to our table and the server was bad. She acted like she wish we would leave (I wanted to walk out at that point but we stayed). She never came to get us refills (it was so slow in the restaurant) and never gave us bread. She rushed us like they were busy and needed the table for someone else (no one was there to be seated). The food was bad (we got the polynessian lunch plate with the steak). I highly recommend you avoid this place. The only good thing about Kona Cafe was the dessert. I will not be coming back for a long time.

Gotta say it was Coral Reef for us! Our most expensive meal and the worst food! Service was pretty bad too. My husband had bad fish and I had shrimp that was overcooked. The best part was our bread and butter. We will never go back.

I think the only two we really didn't like were Hollywood and Vine and Tony's. We even tried Tony's twice (thought the first time was just a bad night). We wouldn't ever go back to either one of those restaurants.

Wow, I've ate at Kona twice in the past month and both times I've had excellent service! Try it again, I'm guessing you just had a server who was having a bad day!

We ate at Tusker House in September and we just didn't care for it. The service was just OK, we were seated right next to a door. People kept bumping my chair as they left. Why they put a table there was beyond me. The food?? - we just didn't care for it.

I saw some postings about Tony's not being good, but we've never had a bad meal there. The difference could be that we go for lunch, not dinner. The service is always awesome and the food is excellent.

We were at WDW for the first time in August. I can't say that we had poor service at any of the restaurants. However, I will say that I felt the food at the 50's PT was not what I would call great either. It was fair. I expected more out of it. I will say that the atmospher was fun and the service was good.

Another vote for Coral Reef - food was not that great, service was not good, and they treated my almost-three yo like he was invisible. I know he's not on the DP but still, they could have at least acknowledged that he was there! It was really the only disappointment of our dining week.

It's always interesting how experiences differ so much. Coral Reef was one of my favorite meals. The blackened catfish was excellent, and the service was great. As a solo traveler and diner, I find that the waitstaff is almost always extra attentive. I also had a table at the aquarium glass, which was a definite plus.

Definitely 50's PTC. I think I was poisoned here. Just kidding. I did get very sick for the rest of the trip after eating here though. Ruined the entire trip for me. I felt like I was pregnant but I was not!
Not sure if was the Grandma's punch or just a viral illness picked up on the plane. Either way I wont be eating here again!:scared:

I try to eat someplace twice before I pass judgement. One bad meal just could be an off night, a new staff, or a full moon.

That being said, I do not like Mama Melrose. The two times we have eatin there have had bland food and poor service. Last time I had the steak and the missus had the chicken parm. I know the steak was so-so and my wife siad that the chicken parm was bone dry. Our waitress was pretty matter-of-fact and not very personable. I am not looking for a song and dance, but I like my waitstaff to at least act like they enjoy working. This was the second time I have had a waiter like this at Mama Melrose.
