Hi everyone,
Please help me to choose my meals! I keep changing my mind...:confused3

The choices so far:

Sunday 11th Jan
Steakhouse Brunch 'V' Dinner at Walt's
We arrive at CDG at 9.30 and so I had planned to do the character brunch but my DH has pointed out that the kids will be itching to get into the parks and won't want to eat. Walt's is only open on this day throughout our stay and DH really wants to eat there.

Monday 12th
EMH, so I thought I'd take the girls to Auberge at 12 (not using our HB+ Vouchers for this) then Steakhouse or Annette's at about 6.30.

Tuesday 13th
No EMH, so it will be a late start.
Lucky Nugget (lunch) 'v' Steakhouse or Annette's (dinner)

On our last day, we will just grab counter service/snacks.

Can anyone see any glaring errors in my plans? I had thought about buffets but the choice for vegetarians seems so limited. I'm not completely desperate for character meals as we'll get character interaction at the hotel and Auberge. Any advice that you can give me will be much appreciated as I am so damn indecisive!

I would personally opt for:

Sunday-

Walts- Mainly because I'm desperate to eat there though!! I also don't think there'd be as much choice for veggies on the buffet.....

Monday-

Auberge sounds great!
I'd opt for The Steakhouse in the evening.... I do love Annettes though and I'm sure whichever you pick will be a lovely meal...

Tuesday-

I'm not sure if I'd opt for the Lucky Nugget.... I've seen a couple of reviews saying the only veggie options were chips and salad...... Maybe a change of plan there??

Hope thats helped a little!!

Thanks Bob! I knew I could count on you.:goodvibes I think it might be wise to go Sun:Walt's, Mon:Auberge and then Steakhouse, Tue:Annette's. Does that sound good? My DH is a carnivore so he'll be delighted.

At the risk of killing my own thread, what time would be best for Walt's? The park is open until 8 on the Sunday. Do we try to get a window seat for a parade? Phew, so many decisions!!!

Walts might only be open at lunchtime, weve booked for 12 as thats opening time and I'm determined to get a window seat! :) I would phone them up an ask as Walts opening times seem to change all the time!

Thanks, I phoned last week and the CM said Walt's was open for lunch and dinner on that day. I'm going to phone back and double check though because I wasn't sure she understood me! It'll be back to the drawing board if it's only open for lunch!

Sunday 11th Jan
Steakhouse Brunch 'V' Dinner at Walt's
Personally I think the kids would prefer The Steakhouse as there is good character interaction AND really scrummy food. Better than Walts in fact! Walts is not particularly child-friendly and it won't be a quick meal so has no advantages over The Steakhouse other than the fact that if you have window seat they'll be able to see what they are missing! The Steakhouse brunch is one of the best meals available at DLRP.

You will be really full after Auberge so you might be better to use your HB Plus vouchers here where you get a really good deal for them, and just have something small at Annettes.

If you did do The Steakhouse brunch, the character interaction is better than at Lucky Nugget (and the food is SO MUCH better).

I think that sounds a really good plan!! I also think if you got the latest seating possible at Walts you'd be fine!

Thank you Cathy. I'm not sure we will be full after Auberge as I can imagine us eating very little off the published menu... I've had a look at the reviews for the Lucky Nugget and I think I'd be better off abandoning that idea. I'm better off if I have no choices, as I always worry I'll make terrible decisions and regret them!:rotfl:

We have to be careful on that day as we will have been at the airport at 4.30 am and so the kids will be exhausted. I wouldn't want them to fall asleep over their dinner - not when it's so expensive!;)

I meant if it was only open for lunch.... Lol! I should have said that... Sorry, I'm a scatter brain!

We've been to the Lucky Nugget twice and the food was better the first time but still not very good. It's always busy so the characters don't hang around if they come to your table. At the Steakhouse brunch if you get there for opening there is hardly anyone there. Geppetto sat at our table for more than 10 minutes drawing a pic of Mickey in DS's autograph book. As a veggie you'll be better off at the Steakhouse rather than Lucky Nugget, but obviously fine at Walts too. You might be surprised by the food at Auberge, it's really very good even if it might not be something you'd always choose. You don't need to decide about the vouchers till you've eaten, just if you are going to use them tell the waiter before he/she fetches your bill.

I didn't know that about the vouchers. I thought you had to tell them when you ordered. That's very interesting as, like you say, if we enjoy the food and feel stuffed, we wouldn't want a big meal later.

Is it possible to make a couple of reservations and then cancel? I wondered whether we could book Walt's and the Steakhouse and then decide when we get there, sort of play it by ear?

I'm not sure if they'd let you make two reservations at once for the same party of people as this may be considered as unfair on other guests... I know you could just let an exisiting reservation go though as they give your table away after 15 minutes.....

I meant could we reserve the Steakhouse for lunch and Walt's for dinner and then cancel one? The reason is that I don't know how the children will be after all that travelling. I know it seems a bit cheeky but I don't know which to choose!

I'm sure you are supposed to say you've got the vouchers, but we've forgotten before and it wasn't a problem.
You aren't held to anything by your reservation and as Bob says if you don't turn up they pretty quickly give your table away.

I haven't been to the character brunch, but I have to say, our experience at the Lucky Nugget in November last year was just the opposite of yours britchic. We were there for 1pm (so not even first sitting) the restaurant was only about half full, the food was good, plentiful, hot (and the kids loved the desserts, including ice lollies :goodvibes ) and the character interaction was second to none. Gepetto spent ages dancing with some of the children near the band, and all the characters stopped at least twice at each table (in fact, Goofy stopped by ours so many times I was getting a bit fed up having to stand up to hug him again :rolleyes1  ).

The Lucky Nugget is my favourite character meal out of all the ones we've been to, including Cafe Mickey. I like the fact that its in the park too, so you don't feel like you're using valuable time to leave the park and head to the Village for lunch.

But each to their own, and we can only advise on our own experiences, can't we :) .

I think it must depend on how busy it is then Elaine. Both times we've been there have been tables the characters haven't got to, the food hasn't always been replenished, it has always felt very rushed and quite stressful. Just as a contrast the Steakhouse Brunch was just the opposite but we've only done that once. The standard of the salads, the steak and offerings like that carved for you at your request and most particularly the dessert table, I felt was much higher at the Steakhouse brunch. But as you say we're all different and a good job too or we'd all want to go to the same place and we'd never get in! :goodvibes
