Dining credit question?

DH and I have the dining plan. DD and her family have their own villa and no dining plan. One night DH and DSL and doing "Drink Around The World" and eating at Le Cellier. DH will be using 2 dining credits for his meal. I would like to have a nice meal with my daughter and pay for us both using my dining credits. Is this allowed?

You already have a thread where this question was answered.

Dining Plan rules state that you can not use your credits for people not on your reservation. So no, it is not allowed.

OP would not be ordering two meals for HERSELF; she would be ordering one for her and one for someone not on her plan which is not allowed on the plan.

Not allowed, you cant order food for someone who isnt in your plan.

I reposted my question on this thread because I got two different answers on the Restaurant Thread. I thought this thread would be more appropriate. Theses boards are not as friendly as they use to be. I am almost afraid to ask another question.

The board may seem less friendly because most questions have been asked and answered many times already. Most folks come here to ask questions and/or seek out answers. Fewer people come here just to answer questions, and they get tired of answering the same question multiple times when you could easily search to find your answer.

Regardless, there's a difference between what is "allowed" and what you can get away with. There seems to be some undocumented rule here that nobody is allowed to post ways to get around the rules. Except for fasspass+; for some reason you can talk about those loopholes as much as you want.

You are getting a stern answer because what you are asking about is clearly stated by Disney as not being allowed. If you read the terms of the dining plan it states that you may not use dining credits for someone not on the plan. So by repeating the same question it comes across as if you are asking if it is ok to not follow Disney's rules. And the Dis frowns on that.

I'm sorry you are offended, but maybe if you look at it you can see how that is the impression you are giving.

Of course there are! But the same poster asking the same question more than once is a bit odd. And unfortunately makes it seem as if they are looking for an answer they agree with, instead of a factual answer.

I am sorry. I am "old" (in my 70s) and had no ulterior motives. I asked twice because I thought this was a better place to get an answer. I got more than I was looking for. It never occurred to me to research my question. I thought that this was just a friendly, social site to share questions, answers and Disney happenings. I only come on before a trip to see what is new.

There is nothing "odd" about trying to understand how best to use something (dining plan) that was purchased for $1000. My family has owned DVC for 15 years and has spent tens of thousands of dollars enjoying vacations at Disney World. I have been a member of this board since 2007 and have always, until recently, enjoyed reading the forums when planning our trips.

My parents have planned their reservations in a way that has left my mom with an extra sit down credit. Rather than go to dinner herself, she wanted to use two credits at once and take me to dinner. She wrote it on one board and later realized there was a more appropriate board to write it on.

Given the fact that she will have an extra dinner meal credit what are her options if any?

Dining credits are allowed to be used by anyone on the reservation. Anyone staying in the same room could use it. She could change one of her meals to a Signature restaurant that charges two credits. She could book another dinner. Or, as I understand it, she could use the table service credit on a counter service meal. I believe those are the only options allowed under the terms of the dining plan.

I think the confusion is because most posters are telling you what per Disney is allowed, and one poster told you what they got away with doing. There is a difference.

If you have an extra credit you are trying to use you can either book another meal, or change one of your single credit meals to one that uses two credits.

Please don't feel you need to apologize. The forums are for asking questions. If anyone is "tired of answering the same question" then they don't have to take the time to answer it. I actually think you were smart to ask on the more specific dining plan board if you were confused.

Many posters have told you disney a policy which is that dining plan credits are not transferable. That is the official response.

You will also hear from other posters that they have done this with no problem what so ever. Then you will hear from others that they tried and were not allowed. A lot depends on the restaurant and server.

Now you have your answers and can decide for yourself what you want to do.

Again, there is a difference between what the rules are and what some people get away with. And it is a shame that some people decide that as they can get away with breaking the rules that it means that it is ok to do so.

If you have two people on the dp and two are dining, no one will question you. They don't id everyone to make sure the credits are being used for the people on the plan.

And yes, the Disboards have become very unfriendly. I learned months ago not to ask anything anymore.
