Experienced cruisers, please help me. This will be our 2nd disney cruise. The first was a 3 day and I don't remember dress codes being a huge deal. We are now going on a 7 day in April with Parents, In-laws, and children. Upon reading disney's site they are suggesting shirt and tie for men at Lumiere's. Also they mention 1 night will be semi-formal and another night witll be black tie optional. What are these semi-formal and black tie optional nights? Will they happen only at Lumiere's or at the more casual restaurants. Any help would be greatly appreciated in helping me decide how much and what type of attire will be required for my 7 nights of dining. Thanks! :earsgirl:

On the 7 day, there is one formal night and one semi-formal night. On formal night most men/boys were a tux or a suit. On semi-formal night most men/boys wear a suit. Some repeat the tux on that night as well. For women on formal night, gowns or very nice dresses or pants suits. On semi-formal night, again, you see the full range, nice dresses or pants suit/gowns.
If you don't want to dress up on those nights, there are many options for dinner, room service, etc instead of your regular dining rotation.

The formal/semi-formal nights are in all three dining rooms on the same night, so doesn't matter which dining room you are in..all the people and food/atmosphere will be the formal/semi-formal dress and menus.

As far as Lumieres..we don't find it formal at all, and very few people put a jacket on for it. Hubby wears his nice pants/shirts just like any other night, and I wear my usual pants/top or sundress, just like any other night.

Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the info? Also, does anyone know how to rent the tux ahead of time that Disney mentions on their site?

I believe there is a link on the DCL website and you also get information about it with your cruise documents.
