What is the suggested dining attire for ladies & gentlemen at YSH? What about Alfredo's, Boma's, and Garden Grill?

Yachtsman is business casual. The others are casual especially anything in the park. The code is not strickly enforced so you will see deviations. I just feel uncomfortable paying $100s of dollars for a meal at Yachstmans and not dress appropriately. Just my opinion.

Oh yes--DO look at that!! The dress code is the WDW version of "business casual"

At YSH, Disney's dress code would have men in rolled collar shirts, nice "dress" shorts or perhaps khaki pants. Women with nice print tops and nice shorts or capris would also be right-on-target. You can dress up more than that if you wish, but nothing finer than that is required.

There is no dress code at Alfredo's, Boma or Garden Grill. Park attire is appropriate.

YS apparently does have a dress code, and when we dined there last week, we made sure to dress appropriately. However, I noticed that in our seating area, we were literally the only table that had done so- everyone else was in tshirts, flip flops, etc. We weren't 'dressed to the nines' or anything, but I had on a nice skirt and top, and DBF wore khaki pants and a collared shirt. He was complaining about having to be dressy when everyone around us was much, much less so. It was actually a little disappointing- this was our one 'nice' dinner, and it slightly took away from the ambience.

I'm sorry your dinner wasn't as perfect as it could have been. I think we can hope that, as time goes on, more and more people will comply with the dress code.

As you see, the key word in your question is "suggested".
Good to keep in mind just in case what other people are wearing at YSH might bother you at dinner.

That's a great point. Our expectations really should be based on what we're explicitly promised, and a suggested dress code doesn't explicitly promise a universally refined dining environment.

Along this line I was reading a travel magazine about dress codes at vacation resorts, and the suggestion was to always dress at least as nicely as the staff.

Therefore if your server or host/hostess is in a dress shirt or nice dress then it is appropriate for the customer.

The article went on to say that you get better service. Now this might not apply at Disney but I did find it interesting.

LOL...here we go again. Disney should just have bicker stand at the entrance and shake people down if they are wearing flip flops. j/k

Nah, I have a real job. Besides, I have little patience for folks who are so self-centered as to ignore dress codes. :yoda:

It is Interesting. That would seem to eliminate shorts at any WDW restaurant!!
And am wondering (as a traveler) how you would know HOW the servers were dressed until you actually got to the restaurant :confused3

When we go to one of the signature restaurants we don't dress up but don't go as slobs either. Never been turned away. As for others feeling upset or bothered I never understood that. I could care less how the people accross from me look. They are on vacation and that that...smjj

That shouldn't really matter. I don't understand a lot of things about what other people feel, but I respect it nonetheless as their feelings, which they have a right to feel.
