This October we have reservations at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. :thumbsup2 As of right now, we plan to take our DS and DD with us to dinner. (They will be 4.5 yrs and 18 months old then) I'm happy to say that our kids are usually very well behaved while we're out to eat... as long as it's not a 2 hour meal. Since Yachtsman is considered one of Disney's more expensive places to eat (we're on the Dining plan and biting the bullet by using 2 credits each here), I'm starting to wonder if it typically takes longer to eat here? Is this not a very "kid friendly" restaurant? Should I pay for a in-room babysitter for the kids, while DH and I enjoy the last night of our trip alone? The sitter would cost a minimum of $76 for four hours. If we do get the sitter, maybe we could then enjoy a walk around the Boardwalk before returning to the room. :confused3

I'm sure the night DBF and I dined there was a fluke, otherwise no one would ever eat there. Everything was fine at the beginning, but between our appetizers and our entrees, we waited over an hour... yes over an hour! We sat there looking at each other like idiots wondering why everyone around us was being served their food. Our server either forgot to put our entrees into the computer or the kitchen burned/dropped something and had to re-cook it. This would have been fine, as we are both in the restaurant business and are quick to understand that things happen, but our server never ever came over once during that time period to check on us or inform us what happened. So, I guess the answer to your question is that you should expect a normal dinner time, unless you have our server and he forgets to order your entrees!

I am also dinning at YS in Oct. Can't wait! I have dinned there before and depending on the time you eat and what you order can affect the length of time you are there. If you have an earlier ADR and maybe have dessert packed up to go, I think bringing the kids would be acceptable and timing would be fine. If you plan on apps, salad, dinner and dessert you might want to get the babysitter and enjoy yourself. My dinners there have not been on the quick side, but well worth the wait!

We have eaten here twice and both times they we're a little slow, but that can also be a nice thing...But we do eat dinner a little later in the evening.
