Who: Kenneth(DH), Buddy(17 yo.), Kenny(12 yo.), Molly, & me
When: Sun. July, 11th
Where: RPR, US, The Kitchen, & Latin Quarter
We all stayed up late playing PS2 & talking, then had a hard time getting going this morning. DH & I tried to make it to Pastamore before breakfast was over. We practically ran from RPR & got there at 10:55am. They told us they had already stopped serving breakfast. Oh well, I needed the exercise anyway. Back to the room to get the boys up & going. DH called to have the microwave delivered. This time, they were there within 15 min. We finally got out of the room around 12pm, and headed to US. We rode Shrek 1st. As others have mentioned, they definitely aren't advertising the Express line for hotel guests. If you have ever seen this attraction, the Express line is at the same place as it was before. We got into the very next show. The regular line was very long. Never less than 90 min., sometimes over 2 hrs. One night at 9:25pm, the wait was still 60 min. Sorry, but if I didn't have an Express pass, I'd probably never ride it. IMO, it's definitely not worth the long wait. I thought I remembered more special effects. The only special effects were an occasional spritzing of water and the moving seats. Next, to the Mummy. The Express line had a fairly long wait. I was afraid to open my eyes the first time. I was afraid the scarabs would creep me out. The guys all loved the ride. Several guests were amused by my photo. They were pointing & laughing. If it puts a smile on someone's face, I don't mind it being at my expense.
The boys had skipped breakfast, and were ready for lunch. They wanted to go back to swim. My DH & I walked to the Kitchen to get lunch to take back to the room. We were sent to the bar to place our order. The bartender, John, was very friendly. We had a nice conversation, while we waited for our food.
What we ordered:
3 cheese pizzas (2 @ $9.75) $19.50 They were good, but DH & I
were only able to eat half of ours.
3 cheese pizza + pepperoni $10.75
Burger w/ American cheese $11.95 Buddy, who is a cheese
burger junkie, didn't like it. He didn't like the bun.
Side of fries $3.50
Sodas (2 @ $2.50) $5.00 To drink while we waited
Subtotal: $50.70
Tax: $3.79
Total: $54.49
15% Grat. added: $7.61
Total: $62.10
Again, we used a GC and added a little extra for friendly service. John had obviously never dealt with a Clr. Chnl. GC. He made a quick call and we had no problems. There was no take-out fee. We couldn't believe that we were just ordering what we wanted and came within 70 cents of the GC.
They give you adorable little bottles of ketchup.
We walked back to CW and took the boat to RPR. Of course, we didn't find the boys in the pool. They were laying on the bed playing PS2 again. Lazy bums!
Shortly after we got to the room, it began to rain. Boy did it ever! For several hrs. in fact. Nap time for all but Kenny. By the time we all woke up, he was sitting in a seat impatiently staring at us, willing us awake.
We freshened up, then off to Latin Qtr. We arrived around 7:30. There was no wait. We mentioned the GC's first here, because we wanted to use 2. Our server said "no" at 1st. When I explained to him that I knew others had used 2, he excused himself then came back and said the manager said that was fine. We were able to use both GC's on 1 check.
What we ordered:
1)Tres Amigos $11.95 (for the boys to share)
1)sm. Caesar salad $3.95 (for DH)
2)Skirt Steaks $17.95 ea. (DH & son both loved it, but it did
upset my son's stomach. Maybe he had just eaten too much.)
1)Twin Filets w/ garlic boniato mash & asparagus $25.95
(The steak and boniato mash were wonderful, but the
asparagus was tasteless.)
1)Guava BBQ Ribs w/ fries $18.95 (Buddy said they were good,
but wished he would have ordered the Skirt Steak. He had
1 of my Filets & liked it alot.)
1)Tres Leche $5.95 (I had gone planning to order the Crepas
Rellenas, but alas that was no longer on the menu. Our
server recommended this dessert, and it was very good.
It was unlike any dessert I've ever had, and enough to
share.)
4)Soft Drinks
The total w/tax was $115.50. Gratuity was not included. We paid with (2) $50 GC's & $35 cash. The service here wasn't as good as most we experienced, but the food more than made up for it.
At this point, I was totally stuffed and ready to get back to my baby girl. Of course, the boys were just now getting energized, so we went our seperate ways. DH & I back to the hotel, and the boys to US. They rode Twister, JN, ET (1 said his name was Buford & the other said he was Buf. They laughed about this for days.) They also rode MIB. Kenny beat Buddy, so Buddy couldn't wait to go back to redeem himself. DH walked over to meet them outside US at 10pm, because we weren't sure they'd find their way back on their own.
