My DW and I are arriving at BCV on April 28th and are thinking of dining at the Yachtsman Steakhouse, can anyone advice on the quality and pricing or an alternative .
I have not chosen the Yachtsman because it is specifically a steakhouse as we enjoy all types of food, but the descriptions by Disney sound reasonable and after a very long day travelling from the UK, we did not necessarily wish to travel too far.

The food and service is excellent. However, some of the seating stinks! I can't stand when I'm in the middle or back of the room. It's very loud. The price is very expensive.

The last few trips we have chosen Jiko for our steak dinner. It's a bit less expensive and much more comfortable. JMO.

Good to see Yachtsman is recommened as i will be there on September 12th.
I have a ressie for it at 6pm followed by the illuminations cruise. :goodvibes

Can you tell me what the illuminations cruise is, I have not heard about this before

If you're a steak fan it's worth it. If not, you will probably thinks it pricey. I like YSH, it's up there as one of my favorites, but then again I love steak!

I'm the minority here. Too stuffy, over priced and over rated IMHO. Yes, the food is good, but I have had much better. I actually enjoy Concourse Steakhouse over the Yachtsman Steakhouse. Had stuffy servers on two different occaisions at YSH. The place just rubs me the wrong way. Just my 2 cents.

We had a very nice meal there - food was good, service was good, great table by the window overlooking Stormalong Bay. We have had better at WDW, however, if I were you - I wouldn't want to travel far for a meal after a day of traveling to get there.

The only other restaurant that might be worth looking at is Flying Fish. I continue to hear great reviews of it (it's at the Boardwalk so just a short walk or boatride from BCV) and it wouldn't be too out of the way.

But if I were you, I'd stay close to "home" and have a great steak at Yachtsman =)

We love a good steak, but did not like YSH. Very disappointed in both food and service after reading rave reviews.

I have heard that Shula's Steak house (in Swan or Dolphin, not sure) is far superior to YSH. Next visit we will be going there.

Another resounding "YES" vote here!
Re: seating, please remember there are only so many tables along the windows and in the rotunda. When YSH opens at 5:30pm, almost every party wants one of these prime tables, and the servers who have the back (fireplace) section are usually not seated until most of the front is taken. But the back area is nice for a quiet dinner, especially when the restaurant first opens.
YSH is my favorite, and they have many great servers that have been at YSH since it opened, check out the photo of the opening team with Minnie Moo (hidden Mickey).

I am with johnnyr with my opinion of this restaurant.

I did not think it was all that. The service was ok, and I will be writing a review of my experience there at a later date. I will say that the manager did take care of a situation we had there. I did not think the food was that great, and I tried it so that I could at least have an experience at that restaurant.

We've dined at the Yachtsman 3 times and each time the food and service were great. We enjoy the atmosphere and don't find it stuffy at all. We have always felt confortable and welcome even with our children with us.
