Are there any great places to eat at Hollywood Studios? We've been to Sci-fi Drive in and it was fun. We are using the dining plan, but we also have the park hopper so can easily go somewhere else to eat. I haven't seen too many rave reviews from places there. Thanks!

It depends when you are going but Hollywood and Vine has the new Minnie Character meal. That looks pretty cool. No reviews yet since it has not started.

If you're only focusing on the DDP locations, then my favorite are Sci Fi (1 credit) or HBD (2 credits). Otherwise, I really liked the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge, but they don't take the DDP (or reservations).

Otherwise, Epcot has a lot really good options (e.g., Via Napoli, Rose & Crown, Les Chefs) and it's only a boat ride away.

Sci Fi Dine In and 50s Prime Time are probably two of our favorite restaurants on property. Both are extremely well themed and an experience you can only have at Disney. 50s has more heartier entrée type meals, all we have tried have been great!

Agreed -- nice to be able to sit out on the patio and take in the surroundings, particularly if something is going on out in front of Great Movie Ride (when we stopped by, Mulch, Sweat and Shears was playing, so there was great music...sadly, they're gone now). The slider duo (one little burger and one little duck sandwich) would make it worth a stop, with or without music.

My Family's favorite place to eat, in all of WDW, is 50's Prime Time. Their PB&J Shake, Fried Chicken, Pork Chops, Meat Loaf, and Chicken Pot Pie are all amazing, and a good break from Burgers, Chicken Tenders, etc. Its also a fun theme, with fun servers. Always a must-do for us.

I know lots of people on the Dis don't care for it but we like Mama Melrose. The strip steak is really good as is the Chicken Campanelle and Saltimbocca. For starters we enjoy the mussels and caprese salad. I personally enjoy the food here MUCH more than Tutto Italia in Epcot and all four of my grandparents were born in Italy as well as my mother so I know a bit about Italian food.

I LOVE Mama Melrose. I love the themeing -- the lights and greenery on the ceiling especially. I've always had phenomenal service and the Chicken Campanelle (pasta with sundried tomatoes, spinach, onions and broccoflower) is one of my favorite dinners anywhere at Disney World.

I'll be a third vote for Mama Melrose. Went there a few years back and really enjoyed the meal. H&V is good for a character buffet, better than 1900PF in our opinion. Sci-Fi is fun, but if you're in the cars the seating is weird. You can't really converse with your group (which I guess works for some groups). Looking forward to trying 50sPrime Time on our upcoming trip.

The key word here is "great". If you mean "great" from a culinary standpoint, no, but Brown Derby certainly turns out the best cuisine in the park by a pretty wide margin. If you mean "great" as in, "we want to have a really fun time with food that is dependable", then I would vote for 50's Prime Time. While Sci-Fi is also fun, it doesn't have as diverse a menu. So if we want a really nice (but not great) meal where food is the focus, we go to BD. If we want a fun meal with things like fried chicken, meatloaf and pot toast, (all of which is good but never great), we go to 50's. If we want something more in line with burgers and fries, we go to Sci-Fi. If we want bitter disappointment, we go to Hollywood and Vine.

For us, SciFi and 50's PTR are the only MGM restaurants we actually enjoy. Or if you're just up for a snack the carrot cake cookie at writers stop is delicious!
