My family is visiting the DVC resort at Hilton Head for the first time in June, and we were wondering what on-site dining is available, whether we need to make ADR's (as at WDW), and whether there are any character dining experiences available.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There is no on site sit down places to eat at HH. They have the pool side grills at both the main resort and beach house. With that said there is plenty of places to eat in the marina right across the bridge (walking distance)

there are two special entertainment/dining experiences per week, one is barbecue, and the other is shrimp boil, both are at the pool area.

across the bridge is the kingfisher which gives discount to dvc members. there is dining at sea pines area, we went to the crazy crab, but there are others.

don't miss dining at the sea shack, ask for directions, it's a little tricky.

There are no Disney Characters at HH at all. It was a condition by the city before they'd even let Disney build a resort there. You won't see Mickey, or Donald, or any of the characters.

HH is totally different than WDW.

HH itself has a lot of dining options. All kinds of restaurants. As mentioned, there are a number of them a short walk across the causeway bridge.

Bambi and Thumper do make an appearance via shrubbery :thumbsup2

We LOVE Kenny B's New Orleans cafe on Pope Avenue. Their food is great, the company is better. They have an awesome breakfast and brunch buffet too.

We also enjoy Marley's. The supa dupa grouper is awesome, and they have an ice cream store/parlor(outdoor seating only) beside the restaurant that the kids LOVE!

I'm a fan of Kenny B's as well. It's a casual, non-chain place run by Kenny himself, lots of locals eat there regularly. Beignets for breakfast are my favorite!

Marley's also gets very good reviews. We usually just make a stop at the ice cream stand though and listen to the live music when available.

To the OP, I strongly urge you to search this forum for past threads about Hilton Head and spend some time learning about the resort. :surfweb:

It's a wonderful, wonderful place -- we happen to think all of the Hilton Head area is! But it is NOT Disneyworld. If you go there expecting it to be, you may be disappointed, and may not appreciate all the resort has to offer on its own. :hippie:
