I just need to ask exactly how does the Ding work? I mean I downloaded it from the SW site, but have never had a DING happen.

On my computer it put a small icon at the bottom of the right hand side.
When I have a DING it will show a little white flag.

Also, have you added your airport preferences ? From the SW site :

Click the Update Registration link from the DING! application. This will direct you to the Update DING! Registration page. Select airports from the Available Airports selection. Click the "Add" button to add them to My Airports. You can select up to 10 airports. Click Update Registration to confirm your selections.

Click on your SW "wing" icon on your computer. Then click on "update registration" to add/delete your desired airports.
