Read in the Unofficial Guide that Nine Dragons (the full service restaurant in the China pavilion) now has Dim Sum carts.

Anyone tried this? Any good? And is Dim Sum only available at lunch, or can you get it at dinner too?

SWEET!!! :earseek: I am excited to hear about this!! We have Dim Sim here in town (Las Vegas) But I would LOVE to have Dim Sum at Epcot!! VERY COOL!! Thanks for the great news!! We will DEFINTILY try it in 8 days!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Sorry got a little too excited about the Dim sum. NORMALLY Dim Sum is a brunch/lunch thing. Tradtionally it's never for dinner. It's kinda like a Chinese breakfast but no eggs or bacon deal. Dim sum great! It like a variety of little chinese appetizers that get pushed around on carts and you point and pick which one you want. It's GOOD!! :flower:

I have had the dim sum there for lunch several times. Everything we had was great. The selection was pretty good too. I've only had it for lunch so I don't know if it isoffered during dinner. The Spicy Shank Salad is the best. The steamed buns are good. It's been a while so my memory is foggy. I go into Chinatown in Boston for dim sum - the selection at Nine Dragons is not as wide as Chinatown but still very good. I highly recommend it. We took friends there last time and they loved it.

We've debated over trying it, but there's a dim sum buffet right near my dad's house back home that we always go to when we visit. The dim sum is pretty good quality, and while I know it's not the same (nothing beats real dim sum in Chinatown in San Fran!!), it's hard to beat $6.

: dim sum is without question, the best kind of meal EVER!!!! Lot's of little
bites, just right for me! I can try anything I want (I do not know if they
have it at WDW, I will be checking, but if they do order the haystack shrimp
:faint: :faint:

Now, see, that's what I always thought too. But on Deb Wills' site, it lists Dim Sum for dinner, and not for lunch? :confused3

On the dinner menu on Allearsnet, "dim sum" is just being used as a descriptor. It's still listed as a separate .. "experience" "meal" "whatever" ;) at lunch on the menus right outside the restaurant.

(Every time we go to Epcot, I must go over to the menus at every sit down restaurant and look them over)

Oh. OK.

We'll think about trying it. I'm actually of Chinese descent (parents came from Shanghai), and I've been to China on 2 occasions, so between there and visiting relatives in NYC, I've had some awesome dim sum.

By the way, did you know that the words "dim sum" literally means "to touch the heart"? That's what a good dim sum meal is supposed to do -- touch your heart . . .

Deb: If you are ever in Las Vegas during Christmas Holidays or Chinese New Year (only times we know it is offered), take in the special dim sum lunch at Jasmine in Bellagio. Out of this world! We've done it twice -- pricey -- but worth every penny.

My friend and I have crazy outtings, sometimes to malls, zoos parks etc.. Sometimes to go get flu shots. Once when we were both pregnant we decied that we had to go to Cananda to get Dim Sum (no places in Detroit serive it.) So we piled everyone in their mini van and made an afternoon of it. It was great, but the kids didn't eat anything but rice (I did pack some sandwiches and crackers just in case.) My friend even bought the Dim Sum children's book to read. It was fun. The biggest problem was we had a heck of a time getting back to Detroit over the bride and we both had to pee so bad!

This is the same friend we had 2 "outings" (group trips) to WDW. Too bad we didn't know this or we would of ate there!! :goodvibes

Deb, have you tried the dim sum at Nine Dragons? I'm interested in hearing from folks who have experienced really good authentic dim sum. DH and I are former Californians and since moving to Iowa three years ago -- we're neighbors of sorts since we live in the same city :flower: -- I have not had any dim sum, so I'm interested in checking out Nine Dragons' offering on our next WDW trip.

BTW, do you know if any of the Chinese restaurants in Iowa City offer good dim sum?

Oh boy I cannot wait! Count me in. We of course have it here in New Orleans(dare I say some of the best food in da world) but I think it will be fun at epcot.

For really great dim sum, if possible head over to Ming Court on International Drive for lunch. There you will have authentic dim sum. Enjoy!
