Dilemma!!

As some of you know Matt changed his study plans, now back in the UK instead of New Hampshire.
Unfortunately I booked flights to Boston to visit him next month. Yesterday I tried to change our flights to Orlando in Jan. I expected around £400 in fees and extra fare but they want £640.

Option 1, We could stick with our original plans and visit Boston & NH but it will be cold and I don't have the same enthusiasm to go now Matt is not there.

Option 2, Change to Florida in Jan costing £640.

Option 3, Keep the original transatlantic flights, have 2 days in Boston then return flights to Orlando, back to Boston just in time for the original return leg to UK. Cost £340(£170pp) for flights.

We are swaying towards option 3, we would have gone for option 2 but £640 (incl £480 fees) does not sit well with me plus the weather will be better in Oct compared to Jan.

I know no-one can help but thought I would throw my problem out there.

It is but 2 nights hotel in Boston will be £300+ so moneywise not much difference.
I will just feel more satisfied staying in a nice Boston hotel than paying the money out to the airline in fees.

How many days of holiday have you got? Will the 2 days in Boston feel like a 'waste' of precious Florida time, or is there anything you want to do in Boston that you could still squeeze in to 'add value' to the stopover?

2 days in Boston is due to flight prices, if we fly down on the Saturday its £59pp, Thursday or Friday £178pp+.
Around £250 saving waiting for the Saturday plus Boston is somewhere we do want to visit.

I would go for option 3

We are going to visit New York next year to see family at Easter - was supposed to be a short trip well it looks like we might be tagging a few nights in Florida on. DHs idea - apparently seems a waste to be that close with out popping down

Like you Wayne, if circumstances dictate I have to spent x amount of money more, I want to have something to show for it

I think I'd probably go for option 3 when all is said and done. Boston in the cold or Florida in the sunshine... no brainer!

Its £80pp for extra fare then £120pp each way fees to change the flights, I thought it was £120 each way per booking, that would have made it £400 which I was willing to pay but £640 is too much IMO.

We are when our AP's expire end of July.
