I have found the almost perfect vacation home for our offsite week. The only thing is it doesnt have a hot tub and I LOVE hot tubs. It does however have features that some other homes do not ie lake view, fibre optic pool lighting, kiddy park nearby, games room. The price is excellent better than any other I have seen. I just cant decide whether doing without the hot tub will spoil my vacation. :confused3

One other thing I am concerned with, although I would love a lake view home -I find the lake view so theraputic, my oldest DD 10 is totally besotted with wildlife. She knows not to pick up snakes, but I am worried about other creatures such as turtles - are there any turtles that can give a nasty bite in the vacation home area lakes ? I doubt the lake we at this honme will house any alligators. Its not really that big.

magicmouse2,If your not really happy with the house you chose why not keep looking?Did you already put down a deposit? There are lots of websites to check-out and see if you can find the home your looking for.

We had a lovely house in early December that had 4 bedrooms (2 masters)/3 baths, game room, lake view, pool and heated hot tub for $810 total a week. It was in Rolling Hills, near Emerald Isles and Formosa Gardens. Keep looking if you aren't happy. You will find what you want. I went thru VRBO.com.

Know that "love the hot tub" feeling :teeth:

The first time we rented, the house had - what I thought - was a hot tub.

Little round pool, attached to the pool. Lots of bubbles :thumbsup2

Sank into it that first evening...and it's "ahhhh time"...

...nope.
Same temp as the pool.
Bubbles are great, though :thumbsup2 - lots of well placed jets...just not 104*.

Okay, so we give the front desk/clubhouse a call.
"Is there a separate heater for the spa thing? It's not very hot."

"Ma'am, unless the owner has installed an additional heater for the spa, and you switch off the waterfall, it will not get hotter than the pool".

Oh.
:(

Still had a great vacation, loved the villa, just missed the hot tub.

The mstr bath tub - complete with *HOT* water, and jets, was great as a substitute.

So even if you find a home that has what's advertised as a spa/hot tub/jacuzzi/bubble tub, make sure you ask about the heating for it, and specifically how hot it gets.

HTH!!:)

I think you can pretty much count on at least an alligator in every body of water in Florida. There is no such thing as "too small" of a lake.

Is there a hot tub at the resort pool area that you could use? We just returned from Windsor Hills and they had a community pool and large hot tub for all guests to use. I didn't think I would be interested in it since it was July but one day I did sit on the edge and soak my tired feet.

Many of the resorts have community ammenities as well as individual villa pools and spas. That might be one solution.

I totally understand how you feel. When I was searching for a vacation home, the ones in my price range didn't necessarily have everything that I had hoped for. I, like you, wanted a hot tub but the ones in my price range didn't have it. Some years I could afford to go over that price range, but with gas prices and our home renovations I just couldn't do it this year. So, we settled on something different from what I first envisioned. Really you need to decide if price is the deal breaker, or do you have some flexibility. Also, have you verified vacation home prices and availability with the owners? I found several great home that I thought were available and in my price range, but when I contacted the owners they were either unavailable or priced differently than their web page said. I really felt bad contacting people and bothering them but I learned not to get my hopes up on any property until the owners confirmed the details.

Do not ever think you are bothering the home owners ask away. That is their job.

If your willing to rent a home further away from Disney I'll bet you could get a really nice house with all the features that your looking for and a really reasonable price too.
We always stay on 27.Which is around 20-30 minutes from Disney depending on traffic.
The home we stayed in was in Greater Groves. We loved it and the owner lived just 2 blocks away! She was great.Very helpful and flexible.
It's under www.vr360homes.co.uk
Look under 3 bedroom homes until you get to the one in Greater Groves called 'Southern Comfort'...It's worth a look.
