We have been diligently researching DVC for the past several weeks and are now ready to purchase!! :yay:

My brother and sister-in-law will be at AKV at the end of January and we really want to meet them there. It's been 2 years since we've seen them....and of course, we want to be at WDW!!!! ;)

Since we are only 60 days out from the trip....if we want to take advantage of DVC with this trip, it seems like our only options are to purchase direct through DVC?!

Has anyone heard of someone booking their room through WDW and then after their DVC contract was in place, asking them to switch their reservation over to DVC and use their points? Is that possible?

Of course I'd ask our guide (that was randommly assigned to us) but he hasn't been at work the past 5 days. All the other people we talk to at DVC have not been as helpful as he was. The last guy we talked to said "WOW in looking at the call logs you guys have talked to a lot of people the last few days."

If you buy direct, chances are your salesperson could make special arrangements for a room on short notice. You could essentially make it a condition of the sale (get me a room and I'll buy.)

If you want to go resale, it really isn't possible to book a cash room and have it transferred over to the points. You could book on short notice if there is availability after the resale closes but there's no way to predict that.

If you're comfortable with the resale restrictions, I wouldn't use the timeline as sole justification for buying direct. You could pay cash for a trip in January...purchase points via reasle...and still come out far ahead.

Unless the resale restrictions are a biggy, or you need to finance, your best option is resale. You could pay cash for a 1 bedroom, and still save more$$ going resale. Assuming more than 150 points.
Agree with PP, you could prolly get DVC to get you a specific room, with a I will only buy if... but it is still the more expensive way to go.

I would rent someone elses points. If you want an end on January date, you can find points for around 9 dollars a point.

Then I would check out resale.
