I'm looking forward to having my brother and his family joing us next year to celebrate my daughters 21st b-day. My brother and his family have been to WDW a number of times. In fact his girls, (my nieces), have join us a number of times, on trips to WDW. Now that the girls are all young adults, and having gone away on family vacations together, (But for some strange reason never to WDW). My brother and I are looking forward to enjoying (Finally) WDW together.

Here is where the dilemma comes in; Where to stay? It will be either BWV or Kidani Villas. I have stayed at both resorts, in fact my nieces have stayed at both along with us. But on the other hand, my brother has not stayed at, or visited either resort/area. I love staying at each resort and each for different reasons. I enjoy resort hopping. So it doesn't matter where we stay, he will get to experience visiting some of the other resorts. He is aware that I like doing split stays, but not for this trip. So it will be either one or the other.

Because they're leaving it in my capable hands, (LoL) and I'm unable (Or unwilling), at this time to make a command decision. Because as I said, "I love them both". I'm breaking out my trustee coin, and leaving it up to a coin toss.

Has anyone else ever done this? I guess this is one way of having a surprise for myself. Leaving it up to chance to decide where we stay. It's like, "Spin the Wheel". Who knows, this could become a permanent part of trip planing to WDW. LoL :thumbsup2

No, I don't think that i could take such an approach. I agree that neither would be a bad choice. I would just rationalize my mind to one or the other.

Not knowing the people involved, I would probably select BWV if there were teenagers that would be allowed to roam free. In my mind, they would enjoy that more. If there were some younger kids that would really appreciate the animals, I'd probably go that route.

I'd be happy either way, but I don't think that I'd leave it up to chance. I may even force my brother to make the decision. Actually, if it were my family, I might make my brother decide, then make reservations for the other resort just to get his goat, but that is just the relationship I have with him. He would probably out-think me and pick the one that he didn't want to stay at.

Here's an idea, Have him flip the coin and let you know which resort or maybe let your nieces decide.

Post how you handle it. I find this interesting.

No coin toss here. I'm not good going with "whatever" . I always need to know why.

If I were you, I would try for BWV first because it would be easier for the young adult kids to come and go.

AKL is a great second choice and would be just great too.

There are no young childern. The girls are all young adults, which is of drinking age. My nieces have deferred to me in making the call. They're just happy to be going back to WDW. All of us being big New England sports fans, we always end up at ESPN cathing a playoff game or two in early May. No matter where we stay, we always enjoy the atmosphere and make it a point to go, so location is not a concern. And we always have a rental, so getting about is not a problem.

Relaxation at one, more upbeat at the other. In no particular order, sleeping, cocktails and some meals at either. Hence: We're back to the coin toss. What a neat way to do a vacation. :happytv:

We absolutely love both resorts, however, with the ages of your nieces I would choose BWV.

Can you let the Birthday Girl pick?

Alternately, if you really don't care, I would use the coin toss.:thumbsup2

You stole my response.

I would also suggest just taking a vote. Let everyone get online and look at pictures of both resorts and choose the one they favor.

Lastly, I think you have gotten some good advice about the BWV being better suited to let older children come and go. Having the boardwalk, the close proximity to two parks, and all the things you can do at DTD is ideal for young adults.

I use coin tosses as a way to help me figure out which one I really want. It goes like this: flip coin, say to myself "oh, so BWV won... hmmm ... " and then I automatically either think "AWESOME!" or "bummer". If I think "bummer" then I know to stay at AKL.

Make sense?

I think this is a great approach! :thumbsup2

OP - I know the feeling! We are debating b/w a VWL stay this year or trying Vero Beach. I just posted a thread about it over on the Planning Board. I seriously feel like flipping a coin right now...

I also do this. Works great!!

If all are adults or young adults then there is no problem... you want to stay at BWV. The new comers will marvel at the back door access to Epcot and everyone will love the microbrewery and pubs on the boardwalk. BWV it should be.... No need to scuff that special coin.

I'd go for BWV, teenagers/young adults need to "roam" also known as getting away the oldsters.

My 15 yr old makes faces when we mention AKV. What will I do? just sit and look at animals. He and his brother would pick BWV/BCV or even "home" SSR over AKV. The "just walk somewhere" resorts win every time.

You get an extra bathroom at Kidani, right? With teen girls/young women, that a VERY important detail. Good luck in making your choice!

I think there are dedicated 2 bdrms at Kidani as well - so two beds in the second bdrm instead of sleeper sofas. Either resorts would be great. I always have a hard time deciding. Debated between OKW and AKV standard for DH and I this September because we wanted to keep the costs low. Went with OKW because we want to take the kids to AKV on our next family trip since they have never been there. I always second guess myself! Good luck with your decision. Either place would be great. Will say that we loved AKV when we went by ourselves this past October. We watched sports at the pool bar at Kidani and also at the bar in Jambo - love that place!:goodvibes

You took the words right out of my mouth! I would definitely choose AKV/Kidani for that very reason.

I've never done the coin toss but might have to keep that in mind for the future! :rotfl:

You mentioned the girls are drinking age and you always end up at ESPN club.
That shouts out BWV.

In a few years when the girls have children go to Kadani.

Kidani is the answer. I think your brother would like the theme there more. As far as the girls, you’re on property, they can take buses and boats and monorails all over the place. They will have fun no matter where you stay.

I appreciate the comments. After all these years and many trips to WDW, I find myself for the first time, undecided where to stay. That's never been a problem in the past. For my daughter and I, we have enjoyed doing split stays. This has allowed us to always stay at one of our favorite resorts and to always try staying somewhere new. I have this goal to have stayed at all the WDW resorts (Now stands at 15), but I digress. For this trip, we will not being doing a split stay, that's not an option.

As I stated in my PP, we (My daughter and I), really enjoy both resorts. I do know that my brother agrees with me, that having the extra bathroom would be an advantage. I reminded him that when I'm on vacation, Rule #1; "No one uses the bathroom!" So having the extra bath should not be a issue. Relax....That's just a Yoke! I'm certain that we will have another discussion as a group on this choice. And I'm confident that my daughter and I will make a decision as to where we will stay, should a consensus not be achieved.

I've never been a person not able to make a decision. But only on a trip to WDW, with their vast variety of themed resorts to stay at. Could make a persons decision making, a difficult dilemma, from time to time. Maybe that's part of the "Magic", of "The Happiest Place on Earth". :wizard:
