Dilemma: Could not get the same pre and post vacation package hotel. How hard is it to switch?

I had a brilliant plan I would get the same Miracosta hotel room before and after my 1 night package but it's not available :( So now the only hotels available are the Toy Story, Celebration and Ambassador. Which one would you pick, pre and post? How easy would it be to switch? I was thinking we would get our luggage transferred and head to MiraCosta early to pick up our package on day 1.

Our vacation package is 1 night Miracosta, first day Disneyland, second DisneySea.

Thanks so much for your help! I'm a Disneyland pro but this has been a challenging trip to plan, but still so looking forward to it.

I had 2 packages with pre and post days for early June. At first, I had packages and rooms for different hotels and room types. After much persistence, I got both packages and the pre night for the same hotel, Miracosta, and same room type. I hit the post night at Miracosta but never could get the same room type. You have to book new packages/room only and cancel the old ones.

Celebration may not transfer luggage. Be sure to check. I would go with either Ambassador or Toy Story. Leaning a little towards Toy Story since it looks cool and is cheaper.

Thank you for your reply Sonia. Did you just keep checking for cancelations?
Yes, I tried almost everyday, sometimes multiple times a day. Don't check during the package, hotel, and dining release times though.

Definitely keep trying! I wasn't quick enough to grab a hotel-only reso at FSH for March when reservations first opened but have since picked up a room and was even able to change to a different room type after constantly checking everyday. Cancellations happen frequently- don't give up!

We're staying at Celebration before and they do transfer your baggage as long as you bring it to guest services before 11am.

Agree with other posters to keep checking for cancellations. I found at least in my experience that cancellations really didn't start occurring until about a month beforehand. I was never able to grab a room at the FSH hotel as only the extremely expensive suites came up but I did grab the Tokyo Disneyland hotel before my package.

Funny enough I never saw the Toy Story hotel show up a single time I checked and I checked every day, multiple times a day.

You can bookmark the exact search for your hotel/date, at least you could when I was booking my trip. Made it easy to check a few times a day. I'll say the cancellations really pile up about a week before the cancellation window kicks in, as people finalize their plans. Going forward I probably would never bother trying to book something when reservations open and would just plan to pick it up closer to my dates, given how stressful and time consuming it apparently is to book upon release. I saw pretty much every room type imaginable in my weeks/months of watching reservations (aside from Fantasy Springs Hotel, but apparently cancellations were not put back in inventory initially and instead went to a waitlist for Japanese residents).
