Diisneyworld Ticket and/or Magic Band Question

We are flying to Disneyworld and staying off site at a local Sheraton resort for a week. The package includes 4 days at Disney parks, we are up grading to Park Hopper. We are attending the Food and Wine Festival but just visiting the booths and not planning on doing any F&W demos or parties. We will also be going to Universal Islands of Adventure. So...

Will our Disney pass be a card or magic band? Would I need to pack my lanyard?

I had an annual card pass to Disneyland for two years but that was before they came out with Magic Bands. I am only asking because I usually travel carry on so suitcase space is limited and I rarely check luggage.

1. A plastic card. (Credit card size.)
2. If you use one, then, yes.

You can BUY a MB ($12.95, plus tax) if you like, but they are not necessary.
