Sorry HyperMommy -- I just assumed you had already joined in ... Come on over -- it's nice having all of the LOs in one place to look at and...err... scraplift :rolleyes1 !!

Okay.. I've uploaded my LOs in the group. At least most of them. I may upload some more later.

Is there a way to link our LOs in here with the flikr image? Right now I'm uploading LOs separately on Scrap Matters, flickr and photobucket (so I can post them here). I'd love to get my uploading down to the bare minimum. :rotfl2:

Got another one done. This one in response to the SM Walk Down Memory Lane challenge for this week.

Journaling says: I have been well-loved in my life. Your MeMe and Granddaddy loved me loads. And I found my soulmate in your Dad. But when they laid you in my arms and I looked into your brand new eyes, that’s when I really knew what love means.

Hypermommy -- the journaling is just beautiful; my eyes are misting.

Hypermommy, your LO is beautiful!

To answer your question, yes, Flikr is basically just like photo bucket, you should be able to copy the link from there like you do photobucket. I use Flock as my browser and it has a tool to upload from both and then you can drag and drop. I know you can use it SM but just not sure how.

Off to look at the new challenge!

I have just started doing digital.

I love it! Is this from creative memories? I think I am getting the CM software and taking the plunge into the digital world. I went to my neighbors and checked it out today, we couldn't figure out how to mat the photos like you dis? Is that easy?

I recognize that as CM paper. I use SBC+, too. It is SUPER easy to mat photos. Choose a photo on your layout that you want to mat, go to the photos tab at the top, look for the mat button, click it, drag the slider to choose the width of the mat, pick the color and voila! A matted photo!

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me how to save in a jpeg file and upload to a site like shutterfly? This is all new to me and I am hoping it will help me get caught up on my pages!

Sure. Click on the save icon and go down to "save as", choose save pages as .jpgs and then choose if you want to save all the pages of your book or just the current page, or a selection of pages. I always save mine at the highest quality, then upload them to the site of my choice. Hope that helps. I'm happy to help if you have more questions. I was thinking of starting a thread for users of SBC+. Does anyone else think that might be useful?

I know that I would appreciate any and all tips! I "think" that I am getting this for Mother's Day. When ssaving to Jpeg, does it give options on resolution? What site do you find to have the best quality/price for printing pages/books.

Here is the layout I did for this week's template challenge at Scrapmatters:

This is one of my favorite photos of me when I was little.

A tip on making colors pop. (in relation to a question asked on the challenge thread about selective coloring)

Ok, i am not the person who the question was directed to, but if you are looking at just coloring certian parts of a pic, there is an easy way to do it -
(I use PSE5)
1. open your pic
2. duplicate it
3. turn one of the copies to b/w
4. then, select the b/w copy, and layer it over the color copy. (Control A to select, then Copy, then paste over the color photo copy.)
5. Then, use your "eraser" tool - and erase the b/w copy where you want the color to show up, so you will be erasing the b/w layer to revel the color layer.

6. THEN, merge (flatten) the 2 pics together - DON'T merge them before b/c it will make it one pic, and you won't be able to erase the b/w layer. ;)
I use PSP and use the same method. Sometimes, depending on the effect I want I'll boost the color in the original pic to give it that extra pop

Another thing I learned in a digi mag to make colors pop was make a duplicate layer, set to soft light then play with the opacity to get the effect I want and a little deeper color.
Here is the original pic:

After editing then adding the soft light layer:

The difference isn't huge but it has impact.

Another tip to use when doing selective coloring is to tint the bottom layer even bolder. I did that on my son's eyes on my Kili LO. His eyes are not that blue!!

Basically you follow the instructions as above, except adjusting the color on the lower layer picture to a bolder color. This won't work if you are having more then 1 color pop through, unless you make more layers, one for each color.

OK, I had Photoshop CS2, can you use just this program to do this or did you use another program as well? I just tried opening one pic, making a duplicate and changing the opacity on the top layer... and it didn't do anything to the picture quality/brightness! You're picture turned out amazing!!! (Your little one is so beautiful!!) Is there any other tips to what you did? Is PSP different? Thanks

First, thank you for the compliment on my little one.:goodvibes
I call PSP the poor man's photo shop. My understanding is photo shop is more powerful but I can do most of the same as PS users.
Before I did the second layer, I 'defogged' the pic (sharpened it slightly) and brightened it up a bit with levels/curves but you should still be able to get a great effect with soft light. The tut I read in the mag was done in photo shop I'm pretty sure. Did you set your duplicate layer to 'soft light' and make sure it is on top? You should see your pic changed immediately when you set your layer to soft light. Somewhere in your layers palette you should see a menu of options such as burn, dodge, soft light, hard light etc, make sure your top layer is set to soft light then lower the opacity. Once you are happy merge them. Hope this helped! Any more help I can be just ask.

Wen -- I agree that your daughter is beautiful! I am going to try your tip on the soft light. The photo is just amazing.

Fran -- how do you wrap your words around an object?

The tips are great!

This was my effort for the Tuesday Template Challenge on SM.

This is how I did the page for the challenge, but I would like some input from all of you more artistic types out there. I like the template, but I am not happy with the overall look of the page. What can I do to improve it before I put it in my heritage album?

Thanks!

Wow, Wen! Quite a difference in the photo. Very cool. I'm going to have to try this.

Hey... if I wait until the last minute to do my LO for this week's challenge I can take the rest of the tips and techniques that are shared throughout the week and use them. It'll be like a recap before the exam, huh?
