This is more like what I was trying to get...

Got another one done this morning. The lettering was a kit I picked up and I don't remember where.. sorry. But everything else was either stuff I made/pictures I took myself or something I got off of Google .. yes, even the background paper -- this is my first foray into making a patterened background paper and I'm quite pleased at how it turned out.

Very nice! I really like the chili pepper paper and the "Mexico" font! Hmm, more ideas to "borrow".
I do a lot of browsing at Michael's and Moore's when their scrapbook paper is on sale and some of their stickers have good travel fonts. It's quick to scan it in! :)

I love the way you made your son blue in the background. What software do you use? How'd you do that? Oh, and congratulations on being featured in the newsletter.

I use PSPX. You can make some wonderful backgrounds with the blending techniques. PSE has them as well and they are pretty much the same.

To do what I did above, my picture was underneath the background. Then I had the blue background layer highlighted and went through the different blending modes until I found one I liked, giving me that result. The blending menu in PSPX (and I believe it's similarly located in PSE) is just above the layers. It's a drop down box that begins with "Normal". Then there are over a dozen options once you open it up. Some blending modes really make some funky results, but some are absolutely beautiful!

Thanks for the kind words and here is an old one I did by blending a background, a picture and an overlay:

Image is clickable to gallery with credits. You can open a world of fun with blending techniques and they are so EASY!

Everyone is posting great stuff. Love the book Bob & great Mexico LO!

Thanks! And thanks for the directions. I see how it's done now! Woooo hooooooooo!!!!! I can't wait to get home and get at scrapping again!!!!!

Okay, now you're just showing off! :thumbsup2 How did you make a book? That is so cool!

I thought about taking a photo of a book but then I remembered Bert Monroy's work and figured a virtual book would give me more options.

The "book" is really just shapes created in Photoshop, using the select tool and layers.
The cover is a rectangle with the bevel/emboss function, canvas texture filter, and a spotlight (render filter) for effect
The side is similar with skew transform added for a 3D effect.
The pages are another rectangle with warp transform and brick texture (hard to see in this small size but it really looks like pages full size)
The background is just color fill with noise filter and a spotlight

It really needs a drop shadow to look like it's sitting on the background. Maybe later... ;)

I want to do this! I want to do this!

You guys are amazing. The layouts are incredible, and are people seriously making their own paper.

Bob and Natalie is there no end to your skills?????

I am slightly inspired and highly intimidated. I don't know where to start.

Start with the Digi Scrapping FAQ thread page on the main Scrapping page. You'll be on your way in no time!

Got another one done tonight. Should have gone to the gym, but I wanted to scrap instead. But it's my least favorite page so far, so it probably serves me right.

One more day... one more picture for mom's scrapbook.

Great pages and great job on your blending! One I did recently of France pavillion. Click pic for credits.

I finally did a new digital layout. Yesterday my mom gave me a whole bunch of CDs with pictures on them to go through to see if we could find some photos of my Aunt. On one of the disks was a bunch of really cool photos of my Grandma. When my Grandma was born she was only like 2 lbs. The fact that she survived was a miracle. And she is still alive today at almost 97 years old. I love this photo of her. I think my mom said she was actually a few months old in it.

Credits: Paper is by Atomic Cupcake, I believe from the grungy princess set. The frame is a Photoshop brush. The teddy bear is from Microsoft clipart.
