Got another one done. This one felt like it took forever. Most of the elements are stuff I found on google or made myself except for the butterfly paper. That's a klewis flutterfreebie (and I can't remember where I got it :-( ).

My digi scrappy Magnum Opus is this two pager I've been working on for our cruise book:

I really love these pages (and your others, too). I'm just getting ready to do our own DCL pages and I was wondering where you got the "cruise" and "beach" embellishments - the ones that sort of look like playing cards.

In case that link doesn't do right it's scrapgirls.com, go to the shopping area, on the right-hand site of page most of the way down under desiners look for Erica Hite, then the kit she did is called Desitnations. It's a really great kit overall. I've used it for so many things. She did another good one called Bookworm that I've used bunches too. Good Luck!

I haven't been getting my updates on this thread again. I think Yahoo is blocking them. Anyway, everyone is doing great pages. Good blend on Norway Denise!

You are off to a great start, Hypermommy.

Here's a layout I did tonight of our new Christmas ornaments for 2007. I happen to be an ornament freak and Disney freak. I'm sure some if not all of you will understand. :) Happy New Year to each of you.

This is such a nice way to be able to view your ornaments year round! I might borrow this idea from you! ;)

I'm glad I did this layout. It makes me smile to see the ornaments. Usually, the new ornaments get packed up right after Christmas and I forget these new ones until next Christmas. This way, they'll be like old favorites by next Christmas. LOL!

Thanks for your comments!

I love your digital scrappers! :thumbsup2
I'm not so good at it; maybe one day ^^

Ladies, lovely work everyone!

I am a starting digi scrapper, mostly a collector of elements so far. I was wondering about the swirly mickey head that is on background papers, and ribbons, where did those of you who use it get it? Where can I go to buy/get it?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I just got my first photobook back from Shutterfly. It's all my cruise LOs I've been working on. I'll admit it, I cried. :goodvibes Overall I'm VERY happy with it.

Things to consider, however, are: My LO tend to go edge to edge, so some of my stuff was cut off a little which will be good to know for next time. For some reason the cover was the hardest part to get situated on the page, and it was very simple. That was strange, and very annoying. It doesn't have the heft of my regular scrapbooks. I noticed when I show it to people they just sort of flip through it kinda fast. I think they don't really understand that I made each page. When it's my bigger normal scrapbooks they pay more attention to all of the details. It is easier to store because it's flat and not puffed up with all the stuff inside it, but I kinda miss its puffed up bigness. I'll probably get used to that. I did an 8x8 this time just to see if I like it. I'll probably go back to 12x12 or I'm even thinking about 81/2 x 11. That way when it's out you can tell exactly what it is on the coffee table. The 8x8 kinda gets lost in the shuffle.

And lastly: I scanned in a folder that I had gotten on the ship to reup for another cruise. It had Mickey and Minnie standing at the edge of the ship looking at the sunset. I used that for the front and back cover of the book. I was worried that Shutterfuly might not let me use it as this is obviously copy right stuff. Still for personal use so I thought maybe okay, but I was still worried enough that I checked everyday to see when the book shipped out or if I got an email about redoing the cover. I've had some big problems with Zazzel in the past, so I was just nervous about it. I had a back up cover ready to go, but I wanted this one. They used it with no problems. It came out great.

So those are my thoughts and experiences with the photobook. The only thing I didn't like is people not oooing and aaahhhing enough like they do with my traditional books. Does that make me shallow?!

Thanks for sharing this. I'm working on my first digital scrapbook, it's also of our recent Disney cruise. I've been wondering how I'm going to like the flatness...but on the other hand, I've whipped out 23 pages in just over a week. It's soooo much easier than my normal way. Anyway, I've seriously considered leaving room on the pages for my paper embellishments, brads, buttons, etc. The speed and convenience of digital with all the cool embellishments. I'm not sure, though. I'm just glad that our cruise album will be done, instead of the pictures just sitting in the box.

Stenogoddess,

No, that does not make you shallow!

I am just a lurker on this board and am thinking about getting into diggiscrapping. I want nice albums, quickly and not much cost, which is the best way?

Well back to your Shutterfly book. Imho, the reason you are feeling that way is because it can take as long getting things right on making a book on Shuterfly as your other way. We take pride in what we create and we don't like people to just overlook all this pride and joy! When things like that happen I just have to remind myself it's about the memories and that my kids and I can look at them because I actually finished doing something with them!!!:woohoo:

Sorry, that you had that experience. I have made one Shutterfly 8 1/2 x 11 and it was a geneology book. So I got raving responses so far. People were impressed and said they wanted one, but didn't want to do the work! (it's a lot of work, but it's what we enjoy!!) I did the burgandy color.(I love it!) I don't know how to put your own picture on the cover or back!? I finally ended up finding out how to utilize any page background I wanted. I was worried about too many colored backgrounds, but I stayed all within the rich dark family. I used one type of font for one side family and another font for the other side. It all came out nice and the people I polled like the variety of backgrounds I used. They said one color would have been too boring! But I have to have things look somewhat coordinated. I was happy.

Which do you like the best, old fashioned scrappin, diggi scrappin or Shutterfly? Which is fastest? Which costs the least?

Stenogoddess,

It sounds like your family book was awsome. What a great gift. No one knows any of my family background. It's like my grandparents just sprang up out of the earth somewhere, met, married, had eight kids, the end. :confused3

As for which one I like best, I like both for different reasons. I keep two traditional books going throughout the year, a year in the life book and a Christmas book. The Christmas book is obvious. The year in the life is what happened to us as a family this year. So to keep that one at a lift-able level, I just do a couple of pages about each thing. For example, I did four pages of our cruise in the Year in the Life book, but then I digi scrapped the whole trip in its own book. That's what I'll do with our Adventures by Disney trip to London/Paris this spring, which may again have a breakout book from the breakout book with Disneyland Paris having its own book.

I do both because, one, all of our LSS have closed down just leaving me with Michaels and AC Moore. I can never seem to get what I want or feel inspired when I'm in those stores. So I sort of collect up things as I go and then I'm ready for my Year in the Life LOs. Plus, by doing the larger books that take forever on the computer, it keeps my dinning room from staying constantly messed up. I really like traditional scrapping though because I like cutting and gluing and feeling the paper. It's often harder for me to get started on the computer. Plus, I work all day long on the computer so it's often hard to movtivate to get back on the computer for scrapping. Don't let me make it sound like I don't enjoy digi though because I do. I'm still in the learning curve though and so sometimes get too frustrated.

As for cost I think digi could be cheaper than traditional, if you don't do it like I do! LOL I love shopping collections and love the fact that you can buy them and use them right away. I also don't like to use collections over and over. I use it a few times and then I try to move on so that all my LOs don't start looking the same. Now, if you were a better mixer and matcher than I am and were better at recoloring paper and elements than I am, I bet you could get way more milage than I do out of it and thereby save yourself a lot of money. I think I figures out for me that traditional and digi cost about the same, give or take here and there on particular LOs. I know for a lot of people digi is cheaper.

All of that is clear as mud, right?! :cutie:

Here is sort of a digital layout that I did last week. I did this one as an 8x10 because it was easier to get printed and I needed it quickly. Earlier this month my Aunt passed away and instead of sending flowers that don't last, I created this and had it framed to give to my cousins. Since its done digitally I can print additional copies for each of my cousins as well as my mom and other Aunts. No kits or anything were used. Its fairly simple since I didn't have a lot of time. It took a while to get the photos then I had to scan them all. Plus my sister, Mom, and I created 4 posters with pictures, so it was sort of rushed. The words are the lyrics to one of her favorite songs, "Snowbird" by Anne Murray. I really like the last three lines. The butterflies are a Photoshop brush.

Oh, Melissa, what is so wonderful what you made. I'm sure it meant so much your family members. Very thoughtful.
