I have been thinking about switching over to digital layouts cause I saw Archiver's now has a service where you can download your digital pages to them and they'll print out the 12x12s and mail them to you.

I've been searching online for a good program, but I feel lost. Can anyone suggest one to me? I guess it also needs to be one I can save the layouts as .jpgs...

Archiver's says -
Simply save your file in a .jpg format; files must be 12"x12" and at least 150dpi (we recommend 200dpi or greater).

Thanks so much!

I've just started DigiScrapping myself. I downloaded the free trial of Photoshop Elements for 30 days. I bought for $29 an e-book from here http://store.scrapgirls.com/product.php?id=1862 it was worth every single penny. The movies are in QuickTime. They also have a free kit to download called Refresh (very pretty and summery) that will give you some things to play with as you get started. Between the folks over there and over here on this board, I've made several layouts that I'm really happy with.

Good luck!

Thanks! Looks like I have some learning ahead of me. Good thing school is starting back up soon! :lmao:

So I'm clueless, you mean you download kits just like the scrapbooking kits you would buy in a store?!?

Yes, kits are similar to paper kits that you buy in the store, but they are digital. You usually get some background papers and various elements that match, like ribbons, frames, beads, tags, etc.

I see many of the kits are 8X8. I was wanting to stick with 12x12 since that has been what I've been doing. Archiver's prints out the 12x12 size, too. Am I gonna have a hard time finding digital kits other than the 8X8? Thanks!

Most of the kits I've seen have been 12X12. scrapgirls.com and also shabbyprincess.com are 12X12.

A lot of sites recommend saving as 12X12 to save space. Maybe that's what you saw??

Who knows but 12X12 is out there so you'll find it!

EDT: I meant to save as 8X8 to save space. I must have been thinking too fast again!

12x12 is the norm for digital scrapping, there are other sizes, however, occasionally you will see 8x8 or 8x10 and brag books are getting more popular at 4x6. Usually the quick pages are what are the differing sizes, most kits are 12x12.

OK, doing some looking around at the different programs. How long did it take to watch that tutorial?

Thanks!
