Digital Rebel Owners - How long does your battery last?

I'm doing a Santa photo shoot in 2 weeks. I will be there for approximately 6 hours. If my battery is fully charged, will it last the entire time or should I invest in a spare?

If people are going to be depending on you I would get a backup just to be sure. You should get at least 300 shots on a fully charged battery depending on whether you are using the onboard flash or not.

I got two baterries and an ac/dc charger for little more than one canon battery alone. I have never read a bad comment about their batteries.

the dc charger is awesome when on vacation leave one charging in the car...

battery life (like stated before) depends on how much you use the flash, how much you zoom and focus tracking. Tracking may take more bat then falshing even.

i've never had a battery wear out in one day but don't know i would have shot 6 hrs straight either..i have 3 in all so i have 2 fully charged and 1 charging if i need it. they aren't that expensive to chance it imo

This is my first 'real' shoot so I don't feel like I'm fully prepared yet. I've had my new camera for maybe a month or so now. I bought an extra battery and an extra memory card today.

I actually had a very new, fully charged battery die after about 2hours and 40 shots. I was taking a hike mid march up a small mountain here in Western Washington to take some pictures of a waterfall. It was still very, very cold at that elevation. Everything I had heard about batteries and cold weather was true, they die super fast. Now I carry three (one in camera + two spares) everywhere I go.
