Digital Membership Cards?

Do you guys think the pre 2016 resale members having the dreaded "ND" problems will have problems registering for moonlight magic?
I would say yes… unless you have to actually speak with a live person. Previously, we used a link to sign up but it was set up that it only recognized your direct point stay. It would not allow people who booked using white card resell to book.

I don't know about that. The dreaded ND is a Mobile Magic issue. The Moonlight Magic portal was always a DVC interface in the past. So far, the DVC side of things still recognizes grandfathered contracts.

Does it count the day you check out? Let’s say I’m checking out7/26 and event is 7/26, am I able to go to event if I’m blue card booked with direct points? Will website consider that a reservation?

To be clear, if you are a blue card holder, you are "able" to go to the event no matter what. You don't need to be staying on property to attend Moonlight Magic.

Having said that, those members with on-site resort reservations are given booking priority for Moonlight Magic (by about a week) over members not staying at a resort. Reservations tend to fill up quickly and are often filled up by those in the priority group, so even though you are able to attend, you might not get a reservation for the event if you're not staying on property.

And adding to the above, your check-out date is considered a day you are staying at the resort for purposes of reserving Moonlight Magic using the priority for resort guests.

That would suck. We have a grandfathered contract and have registered for MM several times before they started this digital card mess. Hopefully the systems used are the regular DVC ones and not the mobile magic ones.

I scrolled through this thread and see we’re all still having this issue. We bought our resale grandfathered contract in 2014 at SSR. Im the only one who’s had a DVC online account since I’m the one who does all the booking but now I’ll have to get my husband his own account. I added my DVC digital card to my apple wallet and it shows the dreaded ND. Would printing out a temp one avoid this issue? We head to DL next month and we would like to use our discount at the many places that offer it. But the ND on the digital card is a huge bummer.

No because the website still notes who is eligible and who is not. DVC will be using that to allow registration. The digital card is for things where a card was required. Now, if the ND is not fixed by the time the party happens and someone has to show it to get the wristbands...like we did in the past...it might be an issue. But, it should not be for the registration piece because only those eligible will be allowed in the que.

Lordy. Purchased resale in 2009 and still have ND. Just deleted my card again from my "wallet".
Going in April, not hopeful.

I finally set up my card and mine said ND next to the DVC? My mom purchased resale back in 2009 and my sister and I were added to the deed in 2020. We’ve always qualified for the blue card and discounts?

we just went through the same. I did all the booking. So we set my wife up with her own DVC and Disney mobile.

we grandfathered in in 2016 JUST under the wire- still showing. ND.

we go in April and I am planning on writing email to member services explaining the issue and taking THEIR response that I am eligible for discounts printed out with me !

also, temp card just before I leave as they are good for 30 days AND my expired blue card that they SHOULD have just kept.

maybe by then, things would have worked themselves out. Fingers crossed

We are direct owners. 10 years ago without all the digital stuff we just used my husband‘s Disney login and left it at that, even though he’s not on the contract. I purchased it with my mom. When I tried to load the card it came up with his name and DVC Y. I couldn’t get a card. We are going to Disneyland this summer and he’s not joining me until later so I had to get it fixed. 12 minute wait and fixed in 5 minutes. I still need to get an activation code for my mom because she never created an account, but I only solve one problem a day. My son is mad because at WDW in December he just flashed the blue card picture on his phone and they gave him the discounts! I told him that won’t work anymore.,.

This might be overkill, and my tech-averse parents aren't going until May, but I'm adopting a strategy previous posters have suggested:
  • Just saved a chat where DVC confirmed a) i was discount eligible; b) the error was known, theirs, and ongoing; and c) onsite CMs (including ones explicitly at the Epcot lounge) should accept the digital ID from DVC's website as temporary proof.
  • I've sent an email basically trying to get the same information, just verified from another source at DVC
  • I'm printing both out and giving them to my parents to carry in case they need to share (especially because they're going during Moonlight Magic, and I'd hate for the digital wallet cards to cause any issues there if we're lucky to get reservations).
The fact that we have to do this at all is ridiculous, but I'm more frustrated with the disconnect between DVC CMs and CMs on the ground being told different things. It's not their fault, but the lack of urgency and communication for something causing so many onsite issues (especially when we're already stressed about ADRs, Genie+, etc., etc., etc.) is disheartening.

Which is why I said specifically WHITE card resell. If that contract is grandfathered in, they wouldn’t have a white card and shouldn’t have an issue. But IDKYMMV? This is what was told to me by MS when I called to inquire about which points were eligible. As we all know the answers change from time to time.

Couple of points. I am a DVC-ND member who should be a DVC-Y.
I called MS a couple of days ago. I was told they are still working to correct the issue, but no timetable was given. They said to just have an image of the member card from the web and I would be fine. I indicated that does match what I am hearing online and asked if the fact that the issue is persisting had been communicated to all the CM's. They were a little incredulous that some members were having issues with CM's even with an image of the card from the web and said the delay had been communicated to all CM's.

As far as MM, even if a member with DVC-ND is able to book tickets, they are going to need to go to either a resort lobby or a ticket window at the park to get the physical tickets (wrist bands). At that point, membership needs to be proven. In the past, that was a blue card. I am sure now, that will be digital wallet proof. So the same ticket agent that has been giving AP grief, will be looking at the same mobile wallet, looking for DVC-Y. Maybe this will help educate the ticket window CM's that there is still an issue with the mobile wallet, even though the end of Jan has passed.

Check in for Moonlight Magic is handled by DVC CMs, not regular Disney CMs. So, showing the temporary card from the DVC website shouldn't be an issue.

In the hotel lobby, that might be the case, but not the park. In the past when I checked in at the park, it was at the std ticket window with ticket window CM's.

I bought a BRAND NEW 150 point direct from Disney contract THIS MONTH (February 2022) - and guess what? I'm DVC ND

I waited on hold for 45 minutes, and they told me it's a glitch in the system and they said to just wait. I'm not heading to the parks for months, so I'll wait a month to see if they sort this out.

They told me that I can just print out the temporary card from the account page. That's BLUE for me, so that will work, I guess. But this is VERY POOR service to a NEW customer. I worry about someone that 'must' see my app and not the paper membership card, then I'll experience a long wait on a phone call to rectify things.

Disney IT has it together. Sigh.

Who did you call? If it wasn't your sales guide, my advice is to complain to him or her. The glitch has been there since roll out of the digital card (1/1/2022). There have been several reports of CMs not accepting the screen shots & insisting on seeing the wallet with DVC Y. Ask your guide if he/she will refer your case to IT and get you a ticket number so that your individual issue can be fixed.

I don't think calling the guide will do much good, but it may help if the sales people started putting some pressure on whoever is running the IT to get it fixed. This particular glitch was supposed to be fixed by 1/31/22, but it's obviously not. Sadly, the communication on this has been pretty much non-existent except for what you were told.

Hope yours (and everyone else's) gets fixed soon. Good luck.

I contacted my sales guide first. He has been there over 30 years. He didn’t even understand that there is this DVC ND or DVC Y on the cards, I had to explain it to him.

He got me in touch with someone else who didn’t have a clue either, then I was told to call the IT department which I did.

His 'solution' was for me to contact him if I needed to buy something with a DVC discount and he would get it for me. Until then, I just need to wait.

one thing I saw…. Does the digital DVC card say 'Guest' on it even for the owner? Because mine says 'guest'
