Digital Membership Cards?

From the reports, the info regarding grandfathered resale owners didn’t make it into the coding so that is why people who don’t have direct points were impacted.
And that says it all, how can something like this, something as important as this, something as common as this slip thru...ºoº

And that says it all, how could something like this "slip through" the coding process...ºoº

Someone forgot to tell them..so yes, a big oops. But that is why it may not have shown up in tests.

Hi, yes, we bought a direct contract when the minimum for blue card was 75. We already had a 210 point resale contract. We have had the blue card for 2 years. Do you mean impacted like we wont qualify for benefits anymore or that they coded something wrong in the system?
I would think you are grandfathered in like us. We bought in 2004 and again a few years later prior to these restrictions and are grandfathered in on all changes made after we bought. Like you we have and still have a blue card even thought if we bought today we would not qualify...ºoº

So...Maybe this is a stupid question (or maybe it's already been answered), but I think I'm missing something here.

Is Disney allowing the blue card discount to be scanned from Google Pay onto the chip reader with NFC, just like you would pay with a credit card that's in Google Pay?

If not, why not? Are they going to when the glitches are ironed-out?

It seems 1000 times easier to just have the affiliation be read by the scanner and then automatically applied - that way CM discretion is not even a possibility, because the discount (if applicable) would be applied via an algorithm. And that is much easier and better technology than a QR code reader.

As far as I can tell from the 29 pages of this thread, it seems like people are either trying to have a CM scan a QR code, or are showing the CM the tiny little "DVC Y" that shows-up in the "details" section, right? If the chip reader is not using NFC, then why is our blue card in our digital wallet at all?

Per the video, for now, you show the affiliation from the details in Apple Wallet or Google Pay. Many of us thought that they would be scanning QR code, but as of now, that doesn’t seem to be the case…but I have read that some CMs actually do scan it.

I do think that the ability to use it like CC works will happen which is why they want it in Magic Mobile,

There certainly would have been other ways they could have gone, but they did not. So for now, we need to show those to have discount applied.

Here is my experience. Hopefully this will help someone.

When I originally added the card to my Apple Wallet, it only listed Guest name and ID #. There was no line titled "Affiliation". As for my blue card, I have 50 direct points purchased at a time when 25 were required for a blue card, so I would not have the 150 direct points that are required today.

- In MDE, I had my phone # listed under "mobile", and the phone # under "home" was blank.
- I deleted the card from my Apple Wallet.
- I went into MDE, deleted my phone # under "mobile", re-entered it, and also entered the same number under "home". Make sure you hit the "done" button to save it. This is all under my profile>account settings.
- I received an email from Disney indicating that my settings had been changed.
- I went back into my wallet but nothing had changed.
- I did nothing else, but waited about 5 mins and went back into Apple Wallet. Lo-and-behold, I now had the Affiliation line which correctly read "DVC Y".

Good luck everyone. So frustrating, but I would expect nothing less from Disney.

I had to redo my card. I was trying to do passholder cards for my granddaughters. When my card was back, I lost half of my affiliations. I still have dvc y and annual. My castaway club and DIVC never came back. At least I have the one that counts.

Forgive me if this has been asked already - I tried searching the thread but didn't see an answer -

How is someone visiting Disneyland in California showing their membership for the discount? The DL app does not have a MagicMobile feature at this time. Any real-time experiences that anyone can share?

I have no credit cards loaded into Apple wallet. Never set any of that part up. I use the wallet for airline tickets and nfl games then delete them. The MagicMobil went in fine. Just had to reset the phone number with verification code to get the affiliation bar.
Do you have Apple Pay set up on your phone? I've tried several times to set up my MagicMobile and always get an error message. From what I've researched, it's b/c I don't use Apple Pay.

You have to download the Disney World MDE app and use that. They state that in the help video on the DVC site.

Regardless of which resort you are at, you would use your Apple Wallet, however, you will need the WDW MDE app to set that up. MDE itself doesn't tell you whether you have a blue card or white card (ie. DVC Y vs DVC ND).

I do not have Apple Pay set up, but have been able to get my DVC card set up in my Wallet after a bit of tinkering.

Not in any way am I a smart phone expert lol. The “Apple Cash” bar is turned on (green) but the Apple Pay Cash part under that reads “not set up”. I haven’t added any credit cards or payment options as yet. The MagicMobile card went in though.

Thanks. I found the "Apple Cash" setting, but in order to turn it on it says I have to be logged in to iCloud, which I only do when I need to update apps or iOS. At least I'm one step closer to figuring out how to get this to work without setting up Apple Pay.

Any other help you'd be willing to provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Apple Pay is different than just using the Wallet. As long as you can add to the Wallet, then you don’t need to have Apple Pay. I don’t have that either.

Definitely a puzzle. I looked at my settings. The wallet in iCloud is “off”

He does not. We are both on the deed/title etc. I manage booking our trips. He HAS a blue card. Strange...but not unexpected that this digital rollout has been botched.
We have the same issue. We used to have 2 accounts but at some point my account got switched to DH's. So DH had 2 accounts and I had none. Then a few months ago he was asked which one we use and told them. So now I have no ability to have a DVC card and will have to have DH with me if I even want a discount or to go to the lounges. It's all f'ed up. I just want a plastic card.

I checked my card in the Apple Wallet today, and the DVC indicator is still there (and correct), but the DVIC (Disney Visa) is gone. Also gone is the incorrect ANNUAL indicator - I haven't had an AP for years but the Disney system still had me marked as AP holder.

Gotta hand it to Disney IT - even when they try to fix what's broken, they break something else.

I wonder if they are updating peoples accounts a little at a time. This afternoon, we were just getting ready to call ms to see if they could help us figure out why we had DVC in the affiliations but no Y. My husband decided to look at his one more time before calling and the Y was there. He did nothing else to make it appear so Im just wondering if they are playing catch up with peoples accounts. We dont have DVIC showing for disney visa but we just decided to leave well enough.alone for the time being..lol
