For this reasons I am disappointed that the word is they will be using the QR code to verify. The Wallet feature on smartphones is much more powerful and flexible than that, and even the Disney MagicMobile pass uses those strengths for other purposes. You can enter a subway, bus, or ticketed event (including WDW theme parks) and other situations without unlocking the phone and selecting a specific card and having it visually scanned by a person or machine. You generally wave or tap the phone to a reader and it will read if you have the right pass or ticket automatically. But the preliminary word on the DVC member card is you have to (1) unlock the phone, (2) open the Wallet, (3) select the WDW MagicMobile pass, (4) flip it over, and (5) have a reader scan the QR code.I agree with you. CMs barely ask for ID as it is. It will likely be less with a QR code. Also, you don’t have to give them your phone. You can share your QR code into someone else’s wallet. Even if you couldn’t do this you could screen shot your QR code and text it. This is why I believe they just created the same amount or more people using the discount that shouldn’t.
The QR code should be a backup for use only if the automated tech fails. And if you use the automated tech the way the wallets are meant to work, then you reduce the opportunity for people to screenshot the the QR code and then share it among multiple people.
