I need a new camera for our trip. Anyone love or hate their camera? Thanks!!

I have a blue Panasonic TZ3 which just came out a few months ago. Before I always stuck with Sony (a very small slim one, and another SLR type with a 12x zoom). The Panny takes care of both of them-its a 7 mp camera, with 10x zoom, image stabilizer, and lots of other nice features. It can easily fit in my bag so I carry it all the time for candids of the kids. I love the large zoom on such a small camera. So far the only downfall that Ive really noticed and read about is that its not great in indoor settings. We were recently looking for a small pocket-sized digital camera and came across the Panasonic Lumix FX12 at Costco for a reasonable price (about $200). What I really like about this camera is the"Intelligent Image Stabilization system" and the fact that it's very simplified so I can just put it on auto and let the camera do most of the work. Our other camera is a Fuji S5100 which takes nice pics but only has a digital image stabilizer which doesn't work all that well. We plan on using that camera in the evening w/the tripod to take night shots of fireworks and such and using the little P&S during the day.

We have the new Olympus Stylus 770 SW....waterproof to 33 feet & shockproof to 5 feet (that means you can drop it, which I've already done).

We bought it in May for our May WDW trip....it works great!!!

It was $379.00 at Best Buy.

Most people have not seen a waterproof digital camera.
You would not believe how many people in Stormalong Bay two weeks ago told us, "Hey, do you know your camera is getting wet?" :goodvibes
Then DH would explain that it's waterproof & people had to have a closer look at it. It looks just like a small, pocket-sized camera.

We adore our Kodak digital camera. I bought it 18 months ago and have no complaints. The time delay between when you hit the button and when the picture actually gets taken is very small, unlike our last digital camera. The screen is large and the pictures come out great.

We love love love our Sony Cameras. We started with a 3.2 mp point and shoot, then a 5.0 mp, and a 7.2 mp, and we also have a large 8.0mp. Our 6 year old has had a 4.0 mp since she was three and it has lasted and she loves to takes a lot of pictues. Our pictures are beautiful and the large camera has almost no delay when you press the button. We have the most beautiful pictures of the castle at night during Christmas with the snowflakes projected all over it and great fireworks and parade pictures. I also have a Sony Laptop and a Sony Video Camera so everything is compatible and it makes it easier.

We have a Canon Digital Rebel SLR. I could never use a point and shoot digital again after using an SLR. I love the no wait for the digital shot to take, its instant like a regular 35mm.

I had a Sony Cybershot 3.2 mp which I loved and was great. Even had a MP3 video feature so it was like a mini video cam. But sadly I had a little too much saki apparently one night at Japan in EPCOT and by Italy the camera slipped out of my hand and smashed the lens on the ground. I was able to salvage all the pics on the memory card thankfully. Came home and got a brand new Sony Cybershot 7.2 mp and it is everything I had before and more!!! The key is make sure you get the biggest memory card you can. Now since I still have the old one (2gig) and got a new one wit the new camera (4gig) I use one for still photos and the other for mpeg video with the same camera. It's like having the best of both worlds in one little package. The new Sony is lighter more compact, much better features, and the batteries last so much longer. I swear by Sony for cameras and have never had an issue with them other than my clumsiness dropping them. They do have a nice wrist to wrap around your wrist to so you can prevent things like I did, but you have to actually use them, which I do always now. :lmao:

I have a sony cybershot 5 megapixel that takes awesome pictures. I just bought a Canon Rebel xti in june and am still learning to use it. I took both cameras on a camping trip to the beach, and really love the speed of the rebel in comparison to the sony. It's my first slr camera and there is a lot to learn. I think I take as good pics with the sony as I do with the new camera, but there is a big lag between pics, especially with the flash on. Good luck.

We have a Canon SD400. Love it - gets all the action shots without the blurr and takes photos quickly time after time so you don't miss a shot.

That being said my ILs just bought a Lumix and I love that the screen lights up and you can see what you are shooting even in the brightest sunlight.

Thanks for all the responses. My head is now spinning from looking at all the camera websites.

Flipflop....the bennys go home very soon and we can reclaim our roads

Can I hijack a little?

This is what I am looking for:

Under $200
Easy to use.
FAST shutter time between pressing the button and actually capturing the image.

Please be specific in your recommendations as I am camera challenged!

I bought this camera after recommending it to my BF. I've always been a nikon person. I took a digital photography class in college and used my nikon. When my BF got his new canon, which I was looking at buying. I put the nikon and canon to a test, took 2 of the same pics and had them developed (printed) at the same place I was shocked at the color difference the canon was brighter and clearer. I went and bought my own after that, It runs I got mine at CompUSA for $208 and got (2) 2gig cards for $40.

I love this camera cause it has lots of easy to use pre set settings, it's small, like pocket size, one thing my Nikon was not. has great movie features, battery last much longer then my Nikon. This Canon SD1000 is the one I carry in my purse I have it with me all the time......

Ah, a fellow local. I actually feel a teensy bit bad for the bennys who rented houses this week b/c of the horrible weather. You can remind me of that on Friday night when I am trying to get home from work!!
