Hi everyone,
This time next week we should all be in Orlando starting our 3 week vacation We need to to purchase a good quality digital camera,would it be best to buy one in Orlando,if so could anyone advise me of the best model to go for,how much,and where to buy it from? thankyou.

The more mega pixels the better the picture i addvise looking in to the model you want befor you go then when you get in a shop you have an idea what your talking about and you can haggle a bit .

Or you can allways look on the wal-mart site to get an idea of the price.

Hi when looking for a dcamera buy one from a company that is well known ie cannon kodak as the lenses make alot of difference than some of the cheaper brands.A cheap brand 5 megapixel won't compare to a good brand 3 megapixel.
A good 5+ megapixel camera will allow you to print a photoquality A3 print.
Canon are very good cameras in my opinion.

Yes, the make of the camera is very important. I have an Olympus E1 DSLR and the pictures are stunning from it.

A 3 mega pixel camera will produce stunning A4 size pictures. Obviously the higher the mega pixels the better quality the pictures will become. However, there is a draw back in this, the higher the mega pixels the more space one photo will take on your memory card. I would do some research in to memory cards at the same time. My camera takes compact flash which is one of the cheapest cards on the market, whilst Sony's memory stick is the most expensive.

Just something to bear in mind when choosing a camera. I would also suggest you buy a What Camera type magazine and have a look at some of the reviews. I have a Canon A70 which has now been replaced by several models but did win a lot of awards when it was released. I have found it to be a fantastic camera.

www.cnet.com has lots of reviews on cameras which may give you an idea plus I used www.steves-digicams.com which I also found useful. The other thing is to actual get hold on a camera, what is right for one person isn't necessarily right for another.

Don't forget to account for the import duty and VAT that you'll have to pay when you bring it back to the UK and declare it at the airport. I've been thinking of purchasing a new digital camera for a while and have been keeping an eye on the prices. In the end I purchased it at home, from an online vendor, it worked out about the same cost and I knew I could reject it if there was a problem with it.

for what it's worth i'm a fan of olympus, but i'm totally clueless about cameras...

and yes I think that cameras are probably less expensive in the states..

i bought mine there recently....I'm not sure that it was the cheapest store (Best Buy) but the salesperson was very helpful.....and i was pressed for time so i couldn't shop around for price...

i bought a Panasonic DMc fz5 camera off the internet a few months ago had been looking one for holidays next year and wanted to get use of it so i know what i am doing , was checking prices and it was actually more expensive in the states.
have a look on Nomatica and other sites especially reviews about the camera you choose, took me a few months to decide before i bought, but the 12 optical zoom is excellent especially with the OIS
