Digital Camera Recommendation on a Budget

I'm looking to purchases a new digital camera. I currently have a Fuji FinePix A205. Don't laugh, I know it's old. However, it does take great daylight shots but terrible night shots. I'm no pro but looking for something better but still on a budget. Spending definitely no more than $300 but would prefer around $200.

I have an 256mb XD memory card and would still like to use it if possible.
Reading all the features on any certain ones just confuses me more. I'm just an occasional picture taker and would prefer to point and shoot for the most part. Anyone have any recommendations?

You should be able to get a canon S3 in that range at this point. It is a very nice camera, it will still struggle some with low light, but it is a P&S and has the ablility to let you do more by choice as you grow in your knowledge as well.

I agree the s3 is a good alternative to p&S the only thing is you will also need to buy a new memory card but SD cards are not that expensive anymore unless you go for the 2gig and over
