Digital Camera Question

crzy4mickey: Thanks. Something must be wrong with my camera. I've had it too long to return it thinking it must be someting I'm doing wrong, but now I think it's the camera. Fortunately, I bought it really cheap at Christmas at Walmart. I don't think I will invest any more money in it. I probably won't be getting another camera any time soon, so I will just have to deal with the battery problem I guess.

cmonroe: If I do buy another camera, I think I will buy a Cannon. I had checked those out too, but I thought I would get a bargain on the low model cheap Kodak especially since it was my first digital. Probably the higher end Kodak models are really great from what I hear, but once burned...........you know how it goes.

There are so many out there and the capabilities are so similar, it is a difficult task buying electronics now a' days.

We've got two dig cameras (I still prefer my SLR)....I've got a Canon and dd has a Kodak Easy Share. I prefer the Kodak Easy Share. So much easier to use..the camera and the software.

Wow!!!! Everyone has such positive comments about this camera. I must have gotten a "bad" one. I truly do not understand. Maybe I had better invest in the dock. Thanks everyone for the comments. You have given me direction. I know that what I have experienced with my camera is not normal for the Kodak.

Kodak makes TERRIBLE DIGITAL CAMERAS. We got one and it made the WORST pictures, had barely no options, just terrible. We returned it. We now have a Canon. If you talk to any professional photograhper or anyone that knows anything about cameras you will find that Kodaks are just terrible. If anyone likes it, I personnally feel they just don't know any better or are aware of the possibilites of what their camera could really be. (Unless they recently came out with a wonderful camera, they are all bad, most people will tell you that)

I read up on digitals and certain models of the kodak rated higher in picture quality than sony or cannon that is why i bought the Kodak. What price range are you talking about? Ours takes perfectly fine pictures even with the zoom. Which cannon model do you have, i'd be willing to see if they are better quality pictures than what we are getting. I don't print them on my printer at home, I bring the card to the photo store because I don't have a great printer. How is the cannon on batteries?

The camera is rechargable of course and it lasts a days worth of pictures. I have a spare battery though in case I'm going picture crazy and take several hundred. The Kodak sometimes rates high as far as being "user friendly" (which I think is not true) but picture quiality is horrible. You know what though, depending on what site you find the survey on, one will rate one higher, one will rate the other higher, really can't go by that. There was another post about the same thing somewhere on this site and a lot of people we complaining about the Kodak. My husband is a professional photographer so he's super picky about quality and I got yelled at when I bought the Canon but after we took in the pictures we LOVED how great they turned out. I take my pictures on the memory card into Walmart to print them out. They have a new photolab out here and I get real nice pictures for what I need them for. (I scrapbook) Hey, if you like the Kodak, great for you, I'm gald you are happy with your purchase, but let me tell you I have NEVER EVER met anyone that liked the Kodak digital camera. Then you have to reprogram their thinking and show them that not ALL dig camreas are bad. Anyway, not picking on anyone, I just don't want anyone to think dig is bad. Gosh, ever since then, my pics are perfect. I love it!!!:flower:

Yes it is worth it to print your own photos at home. You can decide how you want them, make the adjustments, crop the photos, decide which ones to print, etc.

Also many inkjet prints will last much longer than traditional prints. If you are into scrapbooking you can print on acid free papers which traditional prints can't.

It may be a few cents more per print but they will last much longer. Not all printers have long print life. You might want to check out www.wilhelm-research.com

I'm going to put my two cents in for the Olympus C740/750UZ. These two cameras are awesome and did quite well indoors surprisingly (though with a little practice). They have a 10x zoom and use standard AA batteries. That means that you can get one of those Rayovac 15 minute chargers and charge them up and for me in heavy use, the batteries lasted all day after being charged in the hotel while I was shaving. Not too shabby. Charger is around $45 for a 4 bay one and 4 batteries are around $15. The charger will charge NiCad batteries, but not in 15 minutes. It does require it's own (the ones for $15) to do it in 15 minutes, and not all night.

As far as the green tint, have you tried changing or letting the camera rechoose the white balance? Different light modes can give a color tint until that balance is adjusted. Mine often has a slightly blue or orange tint if it's in manual mode, until I let it set the balance and then they come out fine. The ones you've already taken may be able to be fixed by using the color balance in photoshop or other comparable programs.

Good luck.

To see a wide variety of cameras and what they will take, check out www.pbase.com. That is where I decided on mine and was glad I did.

I have a Kodak CX6340 and an Olympus C700. I much prefer the Olympus for most of my photos as the resolution is great and lets my size my pics to my current needs with little or no graininess, but has more features and can be harder to use.

The Kodak does well as it takes good 4X6 pics and is very easy to use.

What camera you want depends upon what type of pics you want, 4x6 or 5x7 most cameras will do a good job. Larger ones require better resolution.

Everyone has their own opinion on cameras, just like cars or theme parks. :D
