Difficulty using DVC points at the fort?

Well my faith is restored in DVC! I just got off the phone with a member of the DVC satisfaction team. After she knew she was talking to me, she asked "how would you like to turn 50 on Main Street"! She said they got my letter that i was having a hard time getting a points reservation for June and that she "found room for me" and i have my reservation! I am SO happy. I have no idea how they did it but now i don't have to keep calling every day only to be told no.
So i have that first week on points and the second on cash; now i just have to get through winter/spring, de-winterize the RV and head south, lol.:thumbsup2 :cool1:

"de-winterize the RV"? What is that, some sort of ancient ritual? Never heard of such a thing. :lmao:

Yippee! I am so glad that it all worked out for you! Sounds like you are going to have a perfect 50th birthday!

Just one more reason DVC is the best and why I would never consider selling our points.

Yuck it up chuck (did I really type that?) It's all fun and laughs until a Texan RVer's job moves north, and him with it. Then see who's laughing as the pipes freeze and break that first winter becuase winterizing sounded too funny .... let's not mention the water or holding tanks :rotfl2:

Texan RV'er move north. What kind of brain damage would cause that? :rotfl2:

Congrats on getting what you needed I think it's great that they helped you out. I hate when we have to winterize the camper but we still use ours all winter in Lancaster Pa. We usually camp @ Old Mill Stream for New Years but had to pass it this year to spend it @ WDW @ SSR not a bad trade off.

thats great you can use it all year. so you use it even tho its winterized? we spent some time in ours today to get the generator running and fill it up and put some stabile in it. nice warm day here in pa (for us) so it was a good day to get it out and running. where is old mill stream? sounds like a nice place.

We have been at FW the past 2 spring breaks (end of March). Last year I never booked until January and had no problems getting a ressie on points. I went to book for this coming March back in July and was told there were not ressies to be had on points. I too am very disappointed with this new allocation of points. Oh well, it is Disney's loss. We are going to Topsail Hill instead as I refuse to pay $100 per night when we have the DVC points.

Old Mill Stream is in Lancaster Pa. right next to Dutch Wonderland. A very nice campround to stay @ and see the Amish area ,not much @ the campground but located near alot of things to see and do, also a very clean campground with about the cleanest bath houses I have ever seen. We use the bath houses during the winter so we have no water @ the camper. I don't know where in Pa. you are but for us in De. we can be there in a hour when not towing.

we are 20 miles ne of pittsburgh. we are hoping to get to gettysburg this spring for the first trip of the year. sounds like a nice campground! i've never been out that way, which is strange since i'm from PA! (always going south, lol)

I have family near Altoona so when ever we visit there we always plan a trip to Kennywood. A great old park and a relaxing day, nothin like a day at Disney.

Kennywood IS a great park, isn't it? sad to say i go to disney MORE than kennywood though and its practically in my backyard compared to disney!

Can we try to book more then one site on points @ a time? We are trying to plan a trip in 2010 over the 4th of July and are trying to decide if we want to camp or use a DVC place. I know you can book more then one unit @ a time, we are looking @ 3-4 families going. One of our groups daughter wants to go for her sweet sixteen and we will have a total of 3 birthdays in our group while we are there.

yes, they are your points to use as you wish, but always subject to availability which is what worries me. i will call at 11 mos. for next year and if there is still no availability, i will know there's a problem. i am just glad dvc worked with me this year. i picked a good year to turn 50, lol, the celebration theme is probably what helped.

Have you ever been to Knoebel's near Bloomsburg? They have camping right there but we prefer to use J&D Campground just down the road a bit. This place is just as nice as Kennywood. ( I think)

no, i've heard of that but never been there. we like camper village at cedar point too, in ohio.

Love Cedar Point also we were there last summer for a week, we got season passes from Dorney Park and got to DP CP& Kings Dominion tries to get use from the passes. We had sites right near the pool real nice as long as people would cut thru our sites. It seems the new breed of campers are getting rude.
