Difficulty in Getting Table for Two

Hi There,

We are planning to book DCL cruise soon and are wondering about how one books tables for the restaurants. Specifically, we were interested in booking just a table for the two of us rather than sit with strangers at larger tables. Is this something you can request and book ahead of time or something you must do once onboard? Is it difficult to get these given we would have not cruised DCL before and do not have any frequent cruiser status / tiers?

Thanks

You can request a private table ahead of time. If you log into your Disney account and bring up your cruise reservation, there's a link towards the bottom of the page where you can make special requests. One of the options is for a private table.

Disney can't guarantee a private table. Your odds are better if you have dinner at the second seating.

Once onboard, you can confirm with the dining staff that your request has been honored. If not, then they can try to fix it for you. But again, no guarantees.

(That said, I've always been able to get a private table, even on full cruises, but I always go with the second seating.)

There are not specifically tables for 2, the smallest is a table for 4. You can request a private table in the app when you book. It isn’t guaranteed. You will have better luck if you are requesting the late seating or cruising when school is in season.

Definitely go with the second dining if you want to maximize your chance of getting a private table.

For background info, Disney changed their tables during Covid so that they could accommodate more guests on private tables — ie they put smaller tables instead of the old ones. Nothing changed for the wait staff, they are still assigned the tables that were split — just they need to have their spiel done more as many times as there are additional tables. That mostly grants everyone on second seating a private table but on the first where basically all American and all families from everywhere else want to go, that's a tough one.

We requested a table for two out last sailing (Fantasy, 2022, late dining) and our request was granted. There were 2 other tables of two in our serving team’s group. Each night the 2 of us were sat at a table that could seat 4 guests.

It is more difficult to accommodate on the Wish and the Treasure~ many tables are larger and close together.
The last few times we have requested a table for 2 or 3 on the Wish, we have been denied since the cruises were at capacity. You can go to the dining team when you get on board but be prepared for them not to be able to fulfill your requests. They will try their best!

Thanks for this topic as this upcoming end of August will be my wife and I’s first cruise with this type of request.

On a side note / question. We just returned from the Magic this last Tuesday and would like to have a specific assistant server on our end of August cruise ( also on the Magic )
Is it possible to make that request in the app ?
