Difficult work situation *advice needed*

Hope it works out for you, Joh! I have no helpful advice I'm afraid but I can understand how uncomfortable you feel about the situation - I'd be less than happy too TBH! Good luck, hon and let us know how it goes...

glad you decided to go - and look on the bright side- there's bound to be some eye candy amongst the men ;)

I work alone with only men - after having my children and went down to 3 days they got another female in but obviously we work opposite days.

Anyway I wouldn't bat an eyelid to being in an all male group. You will find them well behaved, polite and actually quite protective towards you. Same sexes get competitive, jealous etc etc. You'll have a much better time.

Have fun and tell us all about it.

Hi Joh

I say go for it. I have done quite a few international team building events (all different countries) where I have not known anybody and it's worked out fine. Think of it, all of those men looking after you.

Have fun.

I'd probably go (and make darn sure everyone knew I was putting myself out for it) that way they wouldn't invite me again :)

You go for it Joh. I know it's hard. I'd feel the same as you but I'm sure you will be fine. It might work to your advantage just play the 'woman' card a bit and get all those men doing all the work for you :thumbsup2 Good luck

yes we are dying to know how it went joh :) hope it was ok :) :)

Well Done and glad its over for you :)

Hi guys, sorry I haven't got around to posting before - it's been a busy week. I'm getting to that point where I'm so unused to working a full day that when I do it takes me a few days to recover :rotfl:

Anyway, thanks to those of you who asked how it went (and who gave me the advice in the first place). As usual, you lot were right and it really wasn't as bad as I thought. The fist morning was a bit awkward but it probably would have been given that I was with a group of people I didn't know.

Monday afternoon was great - we did a range of sketches to demonstrate our functional skills and it was a real laugh.

Ironically, I spent most of Monday night in the bar with a group of men - finally made it to bed at around 1:30 am.

Tuesday morning was really interesting, with some great presentations from the Private Secretary to the Minister for Defence and the MoD Press Office.

All in all, I'm glad I went so thanks everyone :)
