Can someone describe the different views at BWV - standard, preferred and boardwalk? Thank you!

Hi,

Standard view looks out over the valet parking area and entrance drive area of the BW. This sounds like a horrible view but it's actually very nice as there are ponds (retention basins) and fountains and it looks very "Disney-fied". Higher floors may have views of the Epcot fireworks.

BW view are rooms directly over the Boardwalk.

Preferred view rooms are everything else (and the majority of rooms available at BW). You may overlook a pool, the waterway, or, I think possibly the tennis courts. Maybe someone else can help with all the possibilities there.

The problem with some of the preferred view rooms is it might overlook the pool, but if you are on a lower floor, you might have a shrub obscuring the entire view.

Either view you will fall in love with BWV.

Agreed. Given the location, our feeling is that the standard view rooms are the best value in the DVC system.

Again, just our opinion, please don't flame me!

*Some* Preferred rooms overlook the valet parking lot & a service area driveway, but you also get a side view of TOT and the canal beneath which you can see when you stand out on the balcony. Apparently, this slot of preferred rooms is very close to where the dividing line between standard/preferred begins. BWV/DVC made the line somewhere down towards the end of the hall. We were in #4131 which was maybe 4 doors from the very end of the hallway. Just wanted to give you a head's up on this.

If you have the choice, go for Boardwalk or Standard. Standard is fewer points and all BW Views do have a view of the Boardwalk. Preferred views are pretty luck of the draw (as Mia says) - some of them are great (like the Village Green rooms which are "almost" on the Boardwalk), others are right next door to the Standard View rooms.

can't remember the number but, we had a standard room on 4th floor around corner/across from the steps to pool. Did have a view of entrance (to the left) & parking (to the right) but moreso of nicely landscaped area...it was so hot in June, we spent very little time on balcony anyway, just enjoyed the blue skies out the window.

since we hit the parks running in the am, don't think I'd be too happy with bw view/noise, etc.

Mia,

Are these the rooms that are down by the tennis courts? I wasn't sure if the standard rooms view the tennis courts or not.

Also, Crisi mentions the Village Greene rooms. I thought these rooms are dedicated as BW view rooms. Am I incorrect?

Thanks!

People have reported getting Village Green rooms when they've booked Boardwalk View, and they've reported getting them when they've booked preferredd. My guess is that these rooms have a little flexibility to them - they usually use them as preferred, but if a room goes out of service, they'll call it BW.

I believe so. I'm not BWV expert, but I marked a BWV map showing approximately where my room was (I put an "X" near my room area). If you're not one who cares much about sitting out on the balcony, you probably wouldn't mind this view. Like I said, you do also get a view of TOT if you look 90 degrees to the right when standing out on the balcony. :

Thanks Maria. I agree, I believe that whole block in the yellow is considered preferred, and I believe the tennis courts are there along the water also. I also agree, I would not necessarily prefer that view over the standard views that overlook the entrance.

Thanks for the info!

BWV View worth every point. :thumbsup2

You're welcome....and again, I'm not a BWV expert, but, I was told by several BWV owners on the DIS, that rooms maybe 4-5 down from me were considered "standard". Some have stayed a few doors down from #4131 and said it was considered "standard". So there is some sort of dividing line in BWV/DVC's eyes, where preferred and standard start and stop on this wing of the resort.
Have a wonderful trip as I'm sure you will ! :yay:
