Different meanings for acronyms

I get confused when there are multiple DIS uses for the same acronym. For example, CM can mean Chef Mickey's or Cast Member, FW can mean Future World or Fort Wilderness, or CP can mean Crystal Palace or College Program. Sometimes I have to read a post through a couple times to make sure I've got the context correct so I know what they're talking about.

And CP can mean Candlelight Processional! *LOL*

I love some of you're examples :)

But trust me, it gets better if you know more languages, what is perfectly innocent in English is most assuredly NOT so in another :rotfl:

My husband is with an international organisation of Railway signalling engineers. They where an UK group and now have a large number of Dutch engineers as well.
In the London you have the underground. Which has a full name of
London Underground Limited.......
Since the Dutch joined they write it out in full instead of using the acronym.

You see, where you have four-letter words we make do with three letters :lmao:

While this does not get used here on the DIS, when I was on a wedding planning forum STD referred to Save the Date and BM referred to bridesmaid or best man. Those took some getting used to!

This gets used here :) We have a wedding forum!! We do use those acronyms here!! I just recieved a text the other day asking if I got her STD :rotfl2: :lmao: I said... why yes--yes I did :rotfl: We also have acronyms for alllllllllllll the wedding venues and wedding terms within Disney.

I actually find myself calling everything by the acronym now. Do you want to stay at CSR then move to BLT--or do you want me to try to get the G-Flo for the whole time? AKV has availability. This is how we talk at home

The one that trips me up a lot is CP because it could be a few different things.

DBF could be best friend or boy friend, DF could be friend or fiance... those can be difficult to know who is traveling with who sometimes :)

The acronym for Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor ;).

Funny that I've never actually SEEEN someone use the acronym for this...Now I know why!

I work in health care, so to me...DME is always Durable Medical Equipment...and funnily enough I am a Customer Service Representative, but when I see CSR written out at work, I always think of Coronado Springs because it's my favorite resort!

For my boyfriend, MK is always "Mortal Kombat" (dang video games!)

OMG I started talking in acronyms at home too!!! I was talking to my BF the other day about our potentional October 2012 trip and I was like "well BLT MK View probably won't be available so do you want me to try and rent points for Boarwalk or AKV?" (because saying Boardwalk is easier than BW in my mind lol) I had a while conversation with him in acronyms and he just went along with it like it was totally normal! I was so proud of him! :thumbsup2
