in the process of piecing together the cheapest flights for our upcoming trip. I am looking to book our flight in flying into Sanford, and have our return flight booked out of MCO. Any tips on getting the best car rental rate for different places.

Not sure exactly what you're asking. When using two different airports, you just need to book the flights that work best for you. But, be aware, when flying into Sanford, you do need to get yourself to WDW. There is no 'cheap' transportation between Sanford and WDW. It is about an hour or so's drive..plan accordingly. You could rent a car and drive yourself, or book a car service.
Obviously, heading to MCO you can book DME to get you to the airport.

sorry...after I read my post, I realized I wasn't clear. We are going to be renting a car, as we are staying off site and going to Universal. But I think I will be picking it up at Sanford (found $44 pp tickets!) and returning it to MCO when we fly out. Just didn't know if there are any tricks to getting the best rate, as I am sure it will be a tad higher than renting only at MCO.

It might not be any higher to have a different return location. In Florida, I've never had a penalty or higher rate to return the car to a different airport in that state. For example, we have rented from Tampa and returned to MCO (and vice versa) and when I checked the rates, they are often the same as dropping off at the same place as the pick up. At Sanford though, I've only ever done a pick up and drop off there -- not MCO. I think you just have to plug in your dates and see what comes up. www.mousesavers.com has a lot of hints and links to coupons, etc. for car rentals.

If you're doing Allegiant, make sure you're comparing apples to apples with the other airlines. Baggage fees, seat selection fees, etc.

Good to know! We are flying allegiant, and I have priced this trip every which way. We are only going for a couple of days, and are staying at a condo with a washer/dryer, so we are only taking carry ons. DH, the compulsive over packer is staying home. :rotfl: Every airline has seat fees, unless it's SW, but the price for the SW flight is SO much more. Our return flight is airtran, so we will get it there too.
