Different DP in 2 rooms

We are in the beginning stages of a family trip possibly next June. We will be a party of 8, 4 Adults, 3 kids and a 2 year old.

I've seen people talk about doing deluxe in one room, and I'm seriously thinking this over as an option for us. I'm trying to determine if we should do deluxe in one room, nothing in another, or deluxe in one room and regular dining plan in the other.

I've seen multiple times that all credits on the DxDP are adult credits, whether purchased for an adult or child. So I thought IF that's the case, I would want a room with 1 adult and 3 kids to have the DxDP, right?

And if we go this route and have no DP in the other room, when all 8 of us go to dinner, can we use four credits to cover the four adults, then pay OOP for the kids?

This is what we are doing. We have 2 adults, 2 disney adults and 4 disney kids in 2 rooms. I was going to place 1 adult, 1 disney adult and 2 disney children in each room and get the DxDP for 1 room, but it was recommended that we place 1 adult and 3 disney kids in the room with the plan to save some extra money. I think we will get 84 credits, which we can use for 12 meals. Might pay OOP for a couple of kids meals to get 1 or 2 meals in on day 7, but we will also be doing the QSDP on the same room for our second week, so we may just dip into that on day 7.

The way the plan works today you can definitely do this. I would just caution you that since your trip is that far in the future it is possible for the rules to change.

WE did this last August, DxDDP in one room and regular in the other. We plan this in December, but as we all know, things are subject to change anytime. It will be okay no matter what, we will simply share appetizers just as we do at home, and eveyone will still eat planty of meals, but I do dislike monkey wrenches tossed in my plans! LOL!

So in practice, if you have two rooms, one with two adults and two kids and you put that room on the deluxe dining plan, and the other room with two adults, no dining plan, you can use all of the deluxe dining plan credits from the first room for any of the adults in either room? If you are dining together with four adults and 2 kids, can you use the first room dining credits (kids or adults) to pay just for the adults, and pay OOP for the kids who will be cheaper? And you could also use one credit for one meal and share that with two people, either adult or child?

I would suggest not talking about these plans, this is how things get changed....keep talking about scamming the system and it will get changed..... talk in privately.

Disney is the entity that changed how we can use the credits. It was not an oversight, and it was not a mistake. AS a guest who has been using the plans for yeas, I can tell you that the servers would not let yo "scam" in this manner a year ago.

Disney has to sell these plans if they want to maintain an "all inclusive" feel, and the best way to hide the rom rates is to sell packages so people only see a bottom line. There are so many ways to avoid purchasing these plans which by the way, are no longer cost effective for a majority of guests, that Disney seems to have loosened the structure to get folks to commit.

The DIS does not allow anyone to share how to pull the wool over Disney, so if this was against the rules the posts would be removed.

Yes. Once we nail down who is coming and how many rooms we need, we then "assign" the rooms for all of us. I do put the little ones in the room that we buy the DxDDP. The other room gets the DDP. This year, depending on the discounts offered and how many of us go, we may choose to skip the DDP on one room, and pay OOP when it makes sense. We know we can share appetizers and desserts, so there will still be enough food. One of our little ones has grown an enormous appetite for her 7 years and she sometimes can eat an adult steak. It was nice to order that and not need to worry that she would not eat it. (She did, even at 6, lucky speedy metabolism!)

This is not the way the DxDP was intended......I am not saying don't do it but the more it's advertised as being used this way, the sooner this will change..
