Hello!

Who can help me out here!

I am curious.... i do really really want a mad hatter cake as its so unusual and you are free to have the most extravagant colours.. but i only need a 2 tier cake due to the number of guests and for a 3 tier - its over $1000.

I have heard that different types of 3 tier cakes are cheaper (non mad hatter cakes) - if this is true, how much cheaper?

The main reason for this is because, well- i love ANY cake... however not all of my guests will love DF and I taste for chocolate covered ameretto / baileys flavour cake. They like simple, sponge and cream cake (which i dont like!!). I thought about the red velevet and barvarian cream for our bottom layer, and then i realised that the red velvet actually tastes of chocolate!

So, its like, i will be having 2 choc type layers of cake. I a wondering if i can get a 3 tier cake so i can 'cater' for everyones tastes and have a plain sponge with creamy strawberry filling or something suitable...

any ideas about different cakes and prices?

We are doing a square 2 tier cake (custom designed) and it is only costing us $500. The bottom layer is being served which is marble cake with white chocolate filling and strawerries and then the top layer which we are bringing home with us is vanilla cake with tropical mousse and raspberries.

I way to save money on cake is to have a 2 tier cake and then a sheet layer which costs a lot less.
 
Exactly - you could have a 2-tier Mad Hatter cake for $450 and then serve a small sheet cake ($55 for a 1/4 sheet cake, which serves 25) for the rest.
 

plus the sheet cake can be covered in buttercream, if they use fondant on the regular cake there will be very little if any buttercream.
 
My two tier mad hatter was $479.25 (includes tax). Hopefully when your wedding rolls around the prices wont go up. I had 33 people and we had a ton of cake left over.

Buttercream is required to stick the fondant to the cake, and, fortunately, Disney puts a decent layer of the stuff under the fondant on their cakes. :thumbsup2

mmmm its 9:00 am in the morning ... ive just seen that photo and im craving cake now!!!

i will see what our planner says, i cant remember off the top of my head how much she quotes us... but it would be good to go with the 2 tier and a sheet cake for another flavor (purely for myself and other guests tastes!)

That's good to know. Around here a lot of times there's a very stingy layer of buttercream and sometimes it seems like they even cut that off since there's no frosting to be found anywhere! :eek: I'm glad to know Disney is generous with the buttercream because that's my favorite part. :thumbsup2
