Different Compensation other than Golf

I wish they would have made the switch to a choice of the golf course they did OR one round at one of the miniature golf courses for the Water Parks and More. We definitely would have used our Plus admissions for the mini golf.

Not complaining though. We will just use it for the Water Parks or DQ.

I guess great minds think alike! Mini golf sure, regular golf not gonna happen! I will miss AC and I'm going with a regular AP rather than PAP since we usually only visit the water parks once per year. I'll just use the discount and pay for the admission as it needs to be paid. Not huge DQ fans either so it won't be a big deal.

I've only used pluses for pleasure island. I don't swim & usually go in the colder months anyway. Now they tell me sorry we reduced what you paid for tough luck. I do feel ripped off. They could have at leasted added the minature golf as a plus. As for the 9 hole course considering the capacity of a course like that i will bet that getting a T time for awhile will be worse than getting dinner reservations a Le Cellar. This will cause me to write Disney to let them know how I feel. How many others will not buy plus tickets now.

My husband and myself are PAP. Have been for years. Having a golf game at a WALKING golf course does not seem an appropriate trade off. Especially considering the fact that both of us have medical problems that keep us from walking in conditions like that. Where is the compensation for us? Yes, Disney will be hearing from me.

I'm already started on my letter. Don't expect it to do any good, but feel that any upstanding group would offer more equitable compensation. I would have also expected a letter from DW to all PAP holders - also those with the plus options.

I bega taking my son to Disney when he was 6 and bought into SSR primarily for its proximity to where I could have a great time with him as a teenager. I started taking him to the comedly club and adventurer's club (early hours) and planned on being able to re-live these memories as he grew up though the years.

Disney has effectively taken that away by deciding to close the clubs--these were some of our most cherished memories.

What to do with SSR now?

May just sell.

: (

I have posted on numerous other spots. But this really is the place. I feel that more than any amount of money is being taken away from the closure of the PI clubs.

I took my son to Disney as a small child every year, and, as he grew we bought into Disney at SSR because it WAS near PI clubs, where my son and I started to really enjoy Adventurers Club and the wonderful improv at The Comedy Warehouse.

He adore(d) these attractions as a tween/teenagers, and I felt that owning SSR and being able to take him to PI would be something we could enjoy together as he ages. We have incredibly fond memories, and I wanted them to continue for a lifetime. That's why I bought at SSR.

I would have bought at Beach Club.

A bunch of new shopping venues doesn't appeal and cannot replace these two treasures of the Comedy Warehouse and the Adventurers Club. If you have never been--go fast and you will see.

My son, who is now at summer theatre camp, is going to be crushed. And to think he wanted to go and work for Disney as an actor. This is going to ruin his dreams and destroy his memories. This is very personal to me, but I do think that some of us who bought into SSR--especially early did so, with a speciifc interest in being close to the clubs at PI specifically.

Shame on Disney.

I hope Disney decides to keep the AC. A lot of people here love that place, and it would be dumb for them to close all of the clubs on PI for good. Besides, DTD has enough places to shop already!

On a personal note: My son and I are going to go to DTD for a nice dinner and the AC for his 16th birthday present from me on our upcoming trip. Good thing I picked that for a gift, eh?

How is offering a round of golf compensation? Last I checked most airlines are charging for checked bags so when you bring your clubs you are paying a hefty charge. Are they offering free rental clubs? I love to golf but I don't fly across the country to do it and don't travel with my clubs. I guess you can use your passes if your willing to pay!!!!!!!!!

DH and I are also upset. One of the perks of a PAP is being able to go wherever we want on property. We aren't the type that make advanced reservations, nor do we have golf clubs. How much are balls and club rentals? Mini golf would have been a much better perk. We are also DVC SSR owners. I wonder how this will change our desire to spend time at DTD? Will you still be able to walk from end to end?

I'm still trying to find out what compensation they are going to offer to the UK customers who have purchased the special Ultimate tickets that give you 14 day/21 day access to everything on Disney property! It's so unfair!

However, do we know for a fact that the PAP holder is only eligible for ONE round of golf? Or is it -- unlimited - based on tee time availability???

Knox

I'm still trying to figure that out for sure too.

Everything I read says "a round of golf" which makes me think it's just once per year. Guess I just figured the verbage would have been more clear if they meant to say "unlimited admission based on tee time availability".

:confused3

The website shows rentals at $15 for a partial set (not sure what that includes) and $55 for a full set. I agree that this a ridiculous "compensation" and am sending a letter to Disney asking for other compensation for non-golfers, although I'm sure it won't get me anywhere. They are within their legal rights I'm sure.

I don't like to think that Disney will offer something other than just one round of golf for the loss of PI.

I can't wait to see what everyone says when the new PI opens. It will be like all those people that swore they would never stay at Pop Century and Disney will have to close it people. Now that is a very popular place.

I think we need to give Disney time to announce their plans for the new PI.

What SafetyMom said!

ITA!

I am disappointed in the compensation we as PAP holders and the people that have the & More tickets are getting. A round of golf at a 9 hole WALKING course.

What about the people who do not golf? Luckily my family does but A round of golf to me doesn't quite cut.

So, if you don't golf you get.........nothing.

At least give a credit towards accommodations or food. Something everyone that is going to WDW can use. The money still stays at Disney.

What do you think?

I think you should get over it. Here is the deal, this company can make the decisions it sees fit. If you do not want to use the golf option then don't. Use one of the other options instead and if you choose not to do so then oh well. As for the future my advice is; if you are not happy with the PAP then don't buy it again. My question to all of those who are angry about this decision and are demanding satisfaction is this: Are you going to go to Disney and spend your money? If so you have no reason to complain becasuse you are part of the problem. If you feel a company mistreats you and you continue to give them your money then you are feeding the beast. Disney will not make these changes if they see a signifigant negative impact on their financials; if they don't then this will continue. I for one love WDW and this change does not impact me so I will continue to give them my money. If they implement a change that I feel cheats me I will stop giving them my money

How about this. In exchange for Disney making the extremely stupid move of closing the clubs at P.I. all the premium passholders get automatic fastpass rights at all rides and attractions?

This is the best idea I've seen so far!!!! :worship:
I just purchased a PAP and a DVC membership (late last year) at SSR with the main reason being so close to PI! Now they've gone and done it! I DON'T GOLF!! (no offense to those who do!) I can't stand golf but oh boy....now we get a free 9 holes, no cart of golf on each trip! Maybe we should get the equivalent in cab fare to head over to City Walk.....now THERE'S a safe place to hang out after dark!

I agree!:thumbsup2

We're not at all upset or losing sleep over the fact that they are closing it all. We're quite excited to see what's coming in it's place. We've never been to PI because it just doesn't appeal to us at all. Yet we still pay for the option on our ticket because it's a package deal.

But how do you distinguish between the people who really utilized PI and are actually impacted by this change vs. the people who never ever went to PI but still want the benefit? Not to mention that ... I don't care how much you love PI, getting "automatic fastpass rights at all rides and attractions" is WAY over the top as compensation for closing PI. Whatever compensation Disney gives has to be equitable. This example isn't. With the golf, Disney is obviously trying to find something in the same financial category, which is fair. You may not like the thing that they substitute, but for everyone here who is grousing about the free round of golf, there's also someone out there who seldom used PI but loves to golf and is now thrilled.

This all reminds me of the year that Hunchback went away. All the petitions, the crying, the complaining, and now who mentions Hunchback any more? Who stopped visiting WDW because Hunchback closed (even though lots of people threatened back then, because it was "the only show we ever went to every single trip")? Who even comes on here to ask where or if they can meet Quasimodo or Esmeralda? Everyone got over it. Same thing with Tapestry. Because other stuff opened and it wasn't the end of the world.

I was never a PI fan, but I know a LOT of people who work there and are now trying to figure out what's going to happen to their jobs. And for that, I'm really sad that the Island is going away. But I can't wait to see what comes in behind it.

:earsboy:

OK so I have to admit I am a little annoyed at the decision and I'm sorry but yes I am still going seeing as I have already forked out £2000 for this holiday so can't simply decide not to go its not that easy! I accept your opinion but perhaps you should accept other people's! This wouldn't have been such a shocker if they had announced its closure at the end of the year or even 6 months from now! 3 months is not exactly a long time when some people plan their holidays years in advance. Just because this doesn't impact you does not mean it wont upset other people! Also if you have already recently purchased tickets then saying 'stop giving them money' is silly because at the end of the day you already have!
