I know many of you are talking about your concierge bookings for later this year and early next year.
Congrats to all those who were successful!

I wasn't doing the "modified booking", but rather a regular future ressie.
Because of all the talk of concierge level booking nitemares, I thought I would pass this along:
I just booked a 1br concierge AKV for May 8th-12th, 2008.
While it was close to the 11 month window, it was not exact, and it was not day by day.
This was our first choice of dates, and it didn't seem to be any problem getting those dates.

In short, perhaps booking concierge at the 11 month window will be easier than once thought.. :thumbsup2

Congratulations!! We'll be in a studio May 3-9! See you in the lounge!

Sounds good!
Lisa, if anyone would know it would be you.. I asked the CM and he seemed semi-sure, but... do all concierge level 1brs have a savanna view? How about studios? I thought I read where someone requested a savanna view while staying concierge.

Thanx!.. :smokin:

As far as I know, Concierge consists of five 2BR lockoffs on the 6th floor. Three of them face the Sunset Savannah, the other two face the pool area. So you have about a 60% chance of getting a savanna view and a 40% chance of getting a pool view. When I booked, the MS CM added a request for a savanna view but made it clear it was not guaranteed. At least one person who booked today (robinb) was told they would be getting a guaranteed savanna view. So I don't know whether Robin's CM was confused or if things have changed as of today and a savanna view is no longer just a request.

ETA: I was thinking of calling back to check on this but given the flakiness of their computer system I was concerned about having a CM touch my reservation for fear of it getting cancelled due to "system error"! I did book mine day by day. I worked too hard to get it to risk losing it now.

Congratulations to both of you.:cool1: I wonder if it was easier because there just aren't that many AKV owners in total at this point?

Anyway, may I jump in with a question. Do either of you remember when non AKV owners can try for club level rooms?

Interesting info. The CM from MS that booked mine said it was a savanna view also, but he didn't seem overly sure of himself.

I'm also affraid to call back, but I may throw caution to the wind.
Perhaps if I ask a general question without revealing my reservation details... :smokin:

On the phone with MS now.
She said 98% of the concierge rooms are savanna view.

-- On hold--

She came back and corrected herself. She said it was 1/2 savanna and 1/2 pool view. I requested savanna of course.
I'm not sure if it's a mistake to book concierge if I get a pool view.

My wife may instruct me to switch to a regular savanna view room. :smokin:

I'm not sure during the current grace period, but in the future you can book right at the 7 month window. :smokin:

Thanks, MG. I did realize that normally it will be at 7 months. Just forgot the approaching date. I'll write it down this time  if someone posts.:surfweb:

Oh, just found it under related posts! I keep forgetting to check those out. Anyway, it is June 27.

I'm not switching my dates in March from the 15th to the 20th to concierge for that exact reason. What I love about staying at AKL is the savanna view. I have no interest in a pool view at all. I'm not willing to take that risk.

I am trying to switch my Dec 1 night studio reservation to concierge only because I don't care if I have savanna view for that one night. I am doing the afternoon and sunrise safaris so I won't be in the room very much at all. (I have a cash concierge reservation as well as a points savanna view studio reserved right now for Dec 1 and I'm waitlisted for changing the savanna view studio on points to the concierge studio on points if they release Dec 1 for concierge rooms.)

I booked a Concierge Studio for May 4-9th check out. I requested Savanna view and I was told it is a request. I checked my letter and June 27th is the day for non AKV owners to try to book Concierge.

Thanks for checking back with MS on this. I've stayed at AKL a few times, always in a savanna view room. I have wanted to do the Sunrise Safari in the past but was never willing to pay concierge room rates. So I figured our May trip would be my best chance to book it since I was competing against a relatively small number of AKV owners at this point. I would prefer a savanna view but if I end up in a pool view room this time, that's OK. This concierge stay will probably be a one-time deal for us so that we can do both safaris. After this, we'll have many years to stay in savanna view villas.

I may be wrong on this...BUT...I believe that the Concierge lounge has a Savannah view. So even if your villa does not have the sv, you will still be able to relax in the lounge and enjoy the wonder that is the Savannah. That will make not getting the SV a bit easier I would think.

Can't wait to try the Concierge level someday! I will likely be adding on this next year at AKV! :thumbsup2

No, that's not true. You're nowhere near the savannahs.....the only view from the concierge lounge would be down into the lobby of the resort. You won't see any animals at all.

ITA! I don't know when we'll get the chance to do Concierge again, but I do know I'll have a lot more opportunities to stay in a savanna view villa (I hope). Even if my request for savanna view doesn't come through, it'll be special enough just being in CL. :goodvibes I just couldn't justify spending so much extra for those 6 days, so thank you DVC !:thumbsup2

That's not true. You can see plenty of human animals. :magnify:

Sometimes they're more fun to watch then the 4 legged kind. :lmao:

The $55 covers the safari and the breakfast but does NOT include admission to AK. So you will need a park ticket/AP as well. The fastpass allows you to go back later and experience the Kilamanjaro Safari the "regular" way.

And the CMs collect your park passes before departing on the tour.
