Differences in Fantasy and Dream?

I've only been on 1 Disney cruise, the Dream. Currently booked for double dip on Fantasy. I've seen numerous comments mentioning the Fantasy as being a favorite. I've researched and the ships seem so similar. So my question is, what makes the Fantasy a standout? This is a short 3 night sailing, and I may never get another chance on this ship as it's normally used for longer sailings that I can't afford. I just want to make sure I don't miss the best features, whatever that may be. Thanks

Time was there were more differences. The Dream came out first, and by the time the Fantasy came out there were more onboard options (Satellite Falls, Funnel Puddle, Bibbity Bobbity Boutique among them). After the Dream's dry dock a couple of years ago, she got a lot of the "upgrades" added, plus she now has Vanellope's (which the Fantasy doesn't).

I'm strongly considering that same 3 night. That's basically the Fantasy's cruise after her dry dock to get her back ready to return to her normal 7 night schedule. It's a great deal and an awesome chance for folks to try her. I've only been on the Dream but have a Fantasy cruise scheduled for September. Still trying to find a way to make the 3 night Fantasy Castaway Double Dip work. There really aren't many differences though from what I understand. They are sisters.

I feel this cruise is a great deal also! If you notice some of the sailings with 2 stops at CC are thousands more, not this one! I am paying about the same price as when I sailed in the off season on a standard 3 day Bahamas cruise

The Fantasy has three angled external posts supporting the aft bumpout (Cabanas). The Dream only has two.

Actually, did they add a third at drydock to the Dream? Serious question.

Due to the difference in length of sailing, Pax on the Fantasy are more relaxed and that attitude and atmosphere permeates the vessels IMO.
Including the crew.

Since this will be the first Fantasy cruise after the dry dock, I would guess there is a small chance it could get cancelled due to it being late getting back on the water. They may have priced it this way knowing that

It isn't so much that the Fantasy and Dream are so different (decor is different), some people list Fantasy as their favorite because it normally does 7 nights or more, whereas the Dream mostly does 3 and 4 nights, so they may be saying they prefer it over the Dream for that reason. Still, if you prefer 3 night cruises for budgetary reasons, this is a chance to get on the Fantasy. I just didn't want you to be let down. If you are already happy with the Dream, chances are you will like the Fantasy about the same.

If I recall, there is also an extra "case" to solve on the Fantasy in regards to the Midship Detective Agency game, probably due to the length of stay on the week-long Fantasy cruises. I think I have read about upgrades on the Dream's Oceaneer Club/Lab (Star Wars theming) that was added during dry dock, at the same time as the Vanellope's addition, but I may be mistaken. I may be confusing the dry docks between the Dream and the Wonder.

Yes, that was the Dream that added Vanellope's and Star Wars

The Fantasy's Sport Simulator setup is better, and has air. Dream 2015 wasn't as nice or as cool.

Skyline on the Fantasy is 100x better than Skyline on the Dream. We also prefer the late night club, the Tube, on the Fantasy. Ooh La La is better than Pink in my opinion. Pink is just a thoroughfare for people to get to Skyline on the Dream.

As mentioned before, the Fantasy feels more laid back and relaxed.

Both ships now have Puppies, Art and Muppets.
